Chapter 4: Vision

1693 Words
Your POV ' A god wants me to help him be as human. Why me Rex Lapis?' I asked myself as I lay my head back on the bed. ~ Flashback ~ I was ill, weak, and broken when I was still a child. Our parents went on searching for our little brother, which was said to be' recruited ' by the Fatui. Ningguang and I used to be dumbfounded about everything that was happening back then. Now it's been 13 years, and our parents still haven't returned. At the age of 7, I got an illness that almost took my life. Ningguang used to walk barefoot from Yaoguang Shoal to the south wharf, trying to sell her wares just to buy my medicine. I thought I wasn't able to live long, until the God of geo, Rex Lapis blessed me with a Vision at the age of 9... and it eventually saved me from my approaching death. My body became stronger, I was now able to go out with my sister and help her sell her wares. Until years later she was also blessed with a Vision. Visions are gifts bestowed upon humans whom the gods recognize. They grant the user elemental abilities based on the element of their given Vision. It is said that those with Visions have a chance of ascending to Celestia and attain godhood themselves. These objects take the form of glowing crystal orbs, with the respective element's symbol in the center. To current knowledge, Visions cannot be destroyed and after a person's passing, their Vision will become an inactive trinket. An inactive Vision will lose its color. Diluc told me that the Fatui has manufactured counterfeit Visions called 'Delusions'. They have power beyond those granted by a Vision and do not require its user to be "chosen," but also have a chance of backfiring, corrupting the user. Notably, it backfired on his father, Crepus, who had no Vision. But it had no known side effects when wielded by the Vision-blessed, Diluc. Ningguang told me before that if a Vision-blessed user also has Delusion, his or her power will drastically increase. All of the Fatui Harbingers have this... Including the one that Zhongli calls 'Childe'. ~ Timeskip, the next day ~ " Good Morning." I heard Zhongli say as he drew the curtains and I immediately flinched because of the light hitting my face. It finally stopped raining and I can already hear the birds chirping. When our eyes met I immediately remembered what happened last night, and I couldn't help but blush at the thought of it. " Breakfast is ready! Hurry up you two!" We heard the Fatui Harbinger yelling downstairs. " Why is he still here? Where am I by the way?" I asked him and he chuckled. " He's... An associate with the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. We're currently at Liyue Pavillion. " He said and my eyes widen. " Isn't this place too expensive?" I asked him and he nodded. " Well mora can be earned easily, but trust and respect-" " It was me who booked the place, no need to worry about it. " Childe said cutting Zhongli off. " But why book an expensive place such as this? " I asked them both. " Wangshen's line of work can be a little sensitive at times. Let's just say they understand when discretion is needed. " Childe said and I looked at Zhongli. " And we, the Fatui, have always been glad to do business with friends who walk in the shadows. " Childe said and my eyes widen. ' Is this what Ningguang's been telling me?' I thought to myself. " The Wangshen Funeral Parlor organizes burial. We ensure that those who pass on, do so in peace. "Zhongli told me. " Did you think he was some sort of a hired killer? " Childe asked me with a laugh. I just stared at him. ' The Fatui's are, not Zhongli.' I thought to myself again. " No, not at all... I believe that Wangsheng Funeral Parlor does not dabble in such business... " I told Childe and he chuckled and looked at Zhongli. Zhongli cleared his throat, " I suggest we should be heading downstairs now. It wouldn't be polite to keep the food waiting. " He said with a smile. " You two are acting so strange. I'm leaving. " I said and I felt a hand holding my wrist. " Oops. Not until you've taken your breakfast, Lady (y/n). " Childe said and stood in front of the door, blocking it. I looked at Zhongli and pulled my wrist off his hand. His eyes widen yet he still gave me a smile. " Oh? Mr. Zhongli likes bad girls, huh? " Childe said with a chuckle and I just rolled my eyes at him. After breakfast Zhongli and Childe went to the Northland Bank, giving me an opportunity to do whatever I want at the Harbor. I went to the perfume shop with some of the Glaze Lilies I got from yesterday, Zhongli placed them in a vase with water on it to prevent them from rotting. " Are those flowers given by someone you care about, Milady?" the shop assistant asked me with a sly smile. " U-uh no! No! It is just... I'm... I'm just impressed by the way he cared for these flowers..." I told her and handed the flowers to her. She then chuckled. " Well, Glaze Lilies are rarely found in the wild, and it's pretty expensive." She said as she started extracting the Glaze Lilies. " You must be the Tianquan's little sister? You're as pretty and elegant as she is." She said, I just chuckled and nodded. " This may take a while, if you want you can have a stroll around Liyue and come back when I'm done. Just an hour will do. " She told me. " Thank you so much. I'll be back within an hour. " I told her and she nodded. I started walking around the Harbor. " I finally found you. Where have you been last night? " I heard Keqing asked behind me. " At the Fatui. " I said and her eyes widen. " Uhh... Speaking of the devil. " I heard Keqing groaned underneath her breath. " Lady (y/n)!" Childe greeted me with his hands waving. " I better leave. " Keqing said and I nodded. " Be careful. " I told her and she nodded back at me. She slightly bowed her head at Zhongli and Childe when she passed by them, both of them bowed back at Keqing as well. " Thank you, Childe. I'll be going with her now. " Zhongli said. " Okay, see you later then. " Childe told him, he also smiled at me. " You too Lady (y/n)." He said and left. " I have things to show you, (y/n). " Zhongli said and I just followed him. " Mr. Zhongli! Sorry to interrupt, but I really need to speak to you. " The woman said. " Ah yes, about the items. I remember now. " He told the woman." And by the way, (y/n). This is the Ferrylady at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor." Zhongli introduced her to me. " Ahh Lady (y/n), welcome home. " She said with a bow. I smiled at her. " Thank you... " I said as she smiled back. We immediately went to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. I just listened as they started talking about random stuff. " This Noctilucous Jade is small but has a beautiful shade of translucent blue. It would be a shame not to buy it." Zhongli said. " Yes, Sir." The Ferrylady said. ' That looks so expensive!' I thought to myself. " Cor Lapis is itself hard to gather. It must have taken true skill indeed to unearth two pieces so alike. We should buy them. " Zhongli said as he handed me the gem. " Yes, Sir. " The Ferrylady replied. " Wow, it's like starring straight into your eyes... " I said while looking at the two Cor Lapis' on my palm. " Is that so? I'll take that as a compliment. " Zhongli said and the Ferrylady lady chuckled. I looked dumbfoundedly at them for a second, until I realized what I said earlier. I just lowered my head to hide my blushing and handed the Cor Lapis to Zhongli. " That would be all for now, Mr. Zhongli. Thank you for your time." The Ferrylady said. Zhongli and I then went to an antique shop where they sell different kinds of items. " Pick an item you want. " Zhongli said and my eyes widen. " What? No. It's fine." I told him. " No, I insist. " He said. " It's fine really, I have no interest in stuff like this. " I told him, he then sighed and started looking around the shop as I followed him from behind. " This pair of hairpins perfectly fits with your long silky white hair. " Zhongli said as he gently pinned my hair using the hairpins. " Look at the mirror, you're perfectly beautiful either way." He said, causing my eyes to widen. " I would like to buy this. " Zhongli told the shopkeeper and they both looked at me. " Lady (y/n)! I'm so sorry but the hairpins not for sale." He said and I looked at Zhongli. " They're not for sale? Why not? " Zhongli asked as I slowly take the pair of hairpins off. " These are heirlooms pawned by a poor fellow to scrounge together money for his wife's medication. " The shopkeeper said and my eyes widen. I immediately went to them. " I must hang on them for him until the redemption period expires." He continued. " Oh... " Zhongli said. " I'll buy it, double prize. " I told the shopkeeper. " But Milady... Okay... If it's you, I guess they'll understand." The shopkeeper said and handed it to me. I went out of the shop and Zhongli followed me.
