Father paused right in his tracks and dropped the knife onto the ground. Slowly, he turned around to face the police, both hands in the air. Even though I couldn’t see his face, I was sure he had been smiling manically like when he was about to stab me. Slowly, one of the police took both of his hands and bound them together with cuffs. “Sir, you are under arrest for child abuse and attempted murder.” Father laughed. “Fine, you got me.” The police then escort him into their car. Meanwhile I had been left in the room, a paramedic helping me up to get to their ambulance. I’d been clutching my wound tightly to stop the bleeding, fingers almost sinking deep into the wound. When we reached the outside of the building, the sirens had become so loud, and everyone who was awake at that time
