Ella Kane’s kiss caught me so off guard that my entire body forgot how to function. One moment, I was sitting across from him, trying to convince myself that I was completely unaffected by his teasing and his habit of staring at me like he wanted to read every thought I’d ever had. The next moment, I felt warmth. A shock that started on my lips and shot through my bloodstream like lightning. I didn’t even register the movement. I only knew that one second I was breathing, and in the next… he stole that breath away. My eyes flew wide, my mind blanking as his lips brushed mine, soft but deliberate. Not rushed. Not unsure. Like he’d been waiting for the right moment, and decided that this was it. I froze. Of course a hug wasn’t enough for him. But… I should have expected this.
