Ryan's POV
I bragged a lot. About the women I f****d, the places I had been, the things I had achieved. One would think I was just tasting wealth but no, I was just twisted like this.
Upon our arrival at my company, a crowd had already gathered, civilians complaining due to the deal that went south. It affected them all on a large scale that were one way or the other connected to that issue.
It was pitiful and Alana's big eyes widened further as she saw. She panicked, unsure of how we would get through to the building. Such a cute girl, I shook my head, hiding a smile.
She noticed.
“You're smiling? You're really smiling right now? They could hurt us!” She yelled in disbelief.
“You're scared of them, and not me? You must really think you're safe with me. Too bad, I'll show you that you're better off with that crowd.”
Expecting me to do something, she practically reclined in her seat as I reached in but instead I opened up her door.
“Come out.” Her eyes suddenly popped out like I was betraying her.
“Please, please.” She begged softly, her heart leaping out of her chest.
“Get down.” I repeated, and boy did I hate repeating myself. She was stressing me the f**k out.
She obeyed me, moved to tears. I hoped she wasn't crying because It would make me look bad.
I got out right after and immediately, guards I positioned at strategic places came out, startling her at first before she realized that they were with me.
They guided us to the entrance of my company, away from the hurtful gaze of the angry civilians. If only they would give me time, I would fix this instead of them trying to leave a dent on my company's image.
She walked in with me together, and all the bodyguards retreated now that we were finally inside the building. I took her straight to my male secretary to handle her.
I took pride in my company building, and the way she looked around shyly made me nod my head in approval subtly.
I avoided working with females at a closer level because I always ended up f*****g them and throwing professionalism out the door. It was so hard to behave so getting a male secretary was the only option to stop being a manwhore, although all of this happened just last year.
I approached his table and he stood up to receive me. Alana was with me and they exchanged glances. It bothered me a little. Good thing I buttoned up that naughty shirt. It packed her breasts up as if the shirt was two sizes small. I would call Doris and tell her to exchange everything I've bought and get bigger sizes. She needed to look less attractive, if that was even possible.
“Caleb. Show her to her desk and brief her. I've got s**t to do.”
“Yes sir.” He said and nodded but from the corner of my eyes, I caught him checking her out. The f**k? Well, maybe it was what I thought I saw. Surely he wasn't eyeing my property. I would leave them for now and deal with this s**t.
My phone had been on silent and I already knew a bunch of calls were waiting for me. I was headed to meet the board of directors now as they had been calling me non stop.
I walked with my head held high to the conference room to receive them. Just like I thought, they were already all seated, anger coursing through my veins like it was my fault. Well, technically. Apart from having a couple of shitty staff that were getting fired today, I was also a shitty boss to have not seen past them.
I run a perfume company and apparently, the people that supplied the raw base ingredients got tricked as we got double crossed. Middle men from God knows where got to them before my workers and had the base exchanged to something else.
Instead of checking, they used it for mass production. While it didn't cause a dent in my financial status, people that purchased this subpar perfume had their fair share of disappointment, and it was ruining my company anyway.
From social media taunts to the f*****g crowd outside. The middlemen needed to be caught and no leads were forthcoming.
Like I said before, my workers were shitty and slow. I guess I would handle things myself from here.
All eyes were on me as I walked in and headed to my seat at the head of the table, pretending not to care that their piercing gazes were on me.
“Mr Kelsey, you're late to the meeting.” A woman said, one of my important directors. She gave me a disapproving glare, but I didn't care about her anger. Instead, it only pissed me off.
“Am I late, or are you just unnecessarily early? You can complain, but I'm here now. Let's be civil and tackle this properly. It's obviously not my fault.” I said as I settled into my seat, sinking comfortably.
“But your manner of approach to the matter is upsetting. It's as if you don't care.” She said spitefully. She had always despised me because I turned her down over something and now she was determined to attack me at every chance she got.
“It's my company. It's my reputation. Of course I care but unfortunately, this is not my only problem, but I'm here anyway. Learn to behave properly.” She kept shut.
“Now, let's get into it,” I started off.
“We have all the information we need and we are aware of everything that happened so what's the way forward? We have to deal with the press, send out articles and of course, compensation.”
“You are indeed right but that's not the point. Will this business keep flourishing? You know how people handle mistakes. They won't trust us.” Another male director butted in.
“I don't care–”
A knock startled all of us and we looked up to see who walked in.
My breathing seized. This little s**t removed the buttons I closed and walked in holding some manilla documents that I didn't care about at that moment. Who sent her here, and why did she look so breathtaking?
“Who is this?” The same male director from earlier asked. He was ogling at her. All the men there were.
I heaved a frustrated sigh.
Alana f*****g Petrova will be the death of me.
