Nightmare Is Back

Alana's POV His face twitched a little and I sensed danger so I couldn't believe it when he picked up his phone and called a driver to take me home. It was honestly the last thing I was expecting. I was already thinking of what I would tell Amanda to make her forgive me because apparently, she absolutely hated my new job if I wouldn't be close to her anymore. You won't blame her, she's been through so much and is now scared of other people, although she tries to hide it to the best of her ability and that's why I always tried to indulge her. “You're coming back after the appointment because I want you to come with me to my new site.” “Okay.” Then he left me and rounded his desk while I left the company after the driver came to pick me up. I got home to meet Amanda in tears. “I'm here, I'm here. Why are you crying!” I ran, panicking, rushing to her side and sitting down beside her on her bed. Her tears had adorned her pretty face and I removed hair strands that had stuck to her face. “I don't want to bother you anymore, don't worry I'm back. I'm sad because my ketone levels are a bit crazy. I guess no more ice cream for now until it's back in shape.” She sniffed like she was done crying and had accepted her fate. I shook my head because how was she having ketones issues? It simply meant she wasn't taking her full doses and that angered me a bit. “You've not been caring for yourself. Why can't you see that the more you rebel, the more it gets worse. Did the doctor say anything about your nerve issues?” I asked, running my fingers through her hair. I couldn't believe she had already gone to see the doctor herself. I was so proud of her. “He said they are stable for now and I should try to exercise, so I was wondering if you could register me at a nearby gym or something.” “There's a gym here. Maybe we could get you an instructor, but you know you won't do so much because you just need as much as you need to survive, you don't have to do too much.” She nodded. “Yes I understand. Then she raised her head to look at my face and my outfit. I know she hated it but shocked me when she complimented me. “ You look especially pretty today, I'm sorry I made you leave work. I hope your mean boss isn't upset.” “He is. He sure is, but don't worry.” I smiled at her, hoping she would smile too because that was the whole purpose, and she did. “This is the last time, I promise.” She said with a sad voice and it made me even sadder. “It's okay, bother me all you want. You're all I have.” Then I made her rest on my chest as hot tears adorned her face again. I let her cry until she was satisfied. “I'm going back to work as he demanded. I hope you'll be okay.” “Yes. I'll be in the greenhouse when I'm done stuffing my face with food and oh, the chef promised to teach me to cook a few meals so I'm also looking forward to that!” “That's good. Okay, I guess I'll see you soon?” My smile was hopeful. “Go, go, go!” She slapped my ass as I ran out of her room. The driver was supposed to take us to the hospital but I told him to drive me back to the office, so I did just that. I ignored the stares from the staff when I was leaving but it was a whole different ball game when I entered the company. It was hard to ignore when I could see them staring at me. I felt small under the heavy weight of their stare because who knows what they were thinking? Hopefully they weren't suspecting anything between me and their boss because the gossip would kill me. I had to go back to see Ryan but he wasn't in his office so I turned around and went back to my seat in the general office. I didn't have a separate one, so I could see everyone else. All I did was what others told me to do and I went through a couple of irrelevant documents as well. Somehow I felt jobless, like I wasn't really working. The minute I sat down, the staff that Ryan told to get a new employee for a secretary position came to my desk. “Hey!” She chirped excitedly and I forced myself to return her smile. “Hi.” “I'm Lydia. Can you tell me exactly what Caleb did to you? I'm so glad he's gone. He kept asking me to f**k him in the bathroom.” She rolled her eyes in utter disgust while mine widened. So he did the same for her? What about others? Gosh, he was absolutely disgusting! “Did he take you there or something?” “Uhm,” I cleared my throat as I began. “Yes, he did. At least he didn't force me, but he was begging me repeatedly and I felt like he probably would if I didn't run away, and at a point I felt he was being aggressive.” “Yes, you're right! I should've warned you beforehand. I'm glad the boss believed you. He seems to adore you a lot. Is he like your cousin or something?” I heaved a sigh of relief. It was great that they thought we were cousins. How convenient. “Not really but we are close.” I managed to say, unsure of the right words to use. “I see, alright that's good enough.” She smiled at me and walked away. I guess we were going to be good friends and at this point in my life, I'm totally open to new friends. Out of the corner of my eyes, I spotted Ryan so I craned my neck to face him, but my jaw dropped when I saw who he came in with. Tony.
