I pull Gabriella tightly against me and place my hand on her tummy.
"I'll never let my father hurt you again," I promise her. "I've let him get away with too much in the past. I'm sorry I couldn't be a better mate to you. Even though I know that you deserve more, I don't want anyone else to have you. I love you with all my heart."
"If anything happens to us today," she whispers. "I just want you to know that I love you with all my heart as well, and if I'm ever given a chance at life again, I don't want anyone else but you with me."
I wipe her tears, "don't say that. Let's stay positive. We have plenty on our side, so many that I've lost count. The odds are in our favor since we have the element of surprise. You have nothing to fear."
