Chapter 3

Everyone started panicking, not knowing what to do, since they had never experienced an invasion before. “Listen up, all those who haven’t learned to fight, elders and pups. Please follow your Luna to the cave behind the waterfall and stay there till one of us comes for you. It will take approximately 40 minutes for whoever entered our world to get here. As your alpha, I will make sure no harm comes to you.” Alpha Abasi spoke, worriedly. “Maat, I need you to lead the fighters when it's necessary to fight and please don't overwhelm yourself.” He told her. "I wish we told her the truth when we had the chance," He mumbled to himself. “Okay, dad.” She replied, in determination. Some shifted into their wolves, while others remained in their human form, waiting for further instruction. “Dad, do you think it’s him?” Abub broke the silence. “I don’t know, probably, but we cannot let our guard down. We will have to fight, even if it's the last thing we do.” He was trying hard to believe what he had just told Abub. They waited until one scout came sprinting towards them, panting from the run. “Alpha, a group of men have entered and are 5 minutes away,” he said. Maat glanced at her siblings and members of the pack, who shifted and somehow they reminded her of the nagging feeling she had in the morning. “Was it a warning sign?” She murmured to herself. She made an oath to herself to never take her feelings for granted. Four-pack members surrounded the Alpha, and it’s all up to her to make sure that everyone survives, since she is the only one with heightened strength and speed. Time passed, and soon they could see a giant man with 20 warriors approaching. When they prepared themselves to attack, the giant man spoke in his deep voice. “Alpha Abasi, I see you are ready for war. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I came in peace and have already mentioned to you I will come to your world.” He said, shaking his head in mock astonishment, still approaching Alpha Abasi and his people. Alpha Abasi squinted his eyes to look at the person talking. “One can never be sure and besides, you said you were coming at the end of the week. You can’t just enter a person’s house without permission. I almost sent you and your man back to Khonsu.” The group approached them and Alpha Abasi whispered to one of his sons to go fetch those at the waterfall. “Is that how you welcome your visitors, Alpha Abasi?” He asked with a bored tone. “I believe it's only for unwelcomed guests,” Alpha Abasi exclaimed. “I feel very much welcomed.” He laughed and stopped once he was at arm’s length from him. Abubakar came back with everyone, then Jefar looked at the approaching crowd. “Ah, let me introduce myself. I am Alpha King Jefar Adakna of the Horn kingdom. This man on my right is Tedros my beta, on my left is Walid my delta, and these fine men are my trusted warriors… I apologize for frightening you all but, let’s just say I have ways of finding things that are ancient and hidden.” He said it with a smirk. After his showing off, they led him through the house where he went with Alpha Abasi and the elders to the office. He sat on Alpha Abasi's chair. “I hope you don’t mind me sitting in your chair.” He said while making himself comfortable. “I resent being disrespected in my home, but because you are a King, I will let it rest.” He replied, staring at Jefar. “Fair enough, now let’s get to business, shall we?” Motioning for his beta to give him the documents. "The sooner the better you get the hell out of my house." Alpha Abasi muttered to himself. But of course, he heard him. “Do you think I am going to travel back today? Oh, no! My friend, my men and I are spending two days in your territory and will leave on the third day or as soon as we agree on the terms, especially after you find out what my condition is. And it will be in your people’s interest to accept all of my conditions, even when you don't like them.” He pressed his knuckles and made them pop. “But before we negotiate, I would like to officially meet your family because they will be affected as well.” He continued while observing Abasi's red face. “How so?” He asked with a scowl. “Well, let me say that’s for me to know and for you to find out, eventually.” He replied cockily. Abasi stood up while observing Jefar and walked out of his office. In a few minutes, he came back with his family. As they entered, Jefar grinned at them. “This is my mate, Luna Hehet, my daughters Maat, Naunet, and Jendayi, and my sons Abubakar and Abub.” He introduced them while cradling his mate’s hand. “It’s nice to meet you all. So, who is the eldest?” He was eyeing Maat all the time. “Maat is the eldest,” Abasi replied, narrowing his eyes at Jefar, who was smirking at his daughter. “You have a lovely family, Alpha Abasi, and I can sense they are strong as well. Pity I don't have a family of my own." He faked his sadness. Alpha Abasi's family left as soon as he introduced them. "So it’s true that in your hiding we can’t talk to our wolves and here I think it was just to scare me.” He told Abasi with a burst of laughter. “Our wolves are part of us, but we have never communicated with them, hence we live here.” He replied with a smile. Jefar clapped his hands with excitement. “Okay Abasi, I will give you and your pack the land next to my territory, which will protect you in our world, since you are keen on moving out. But I must ask, is your deity aware that you are tired of living in the only place she created for your kind?” He mocked him. “That has got nothing to do with you. Just tell me your condition so we can do this sooner.” He scowled at him. “Okay, I have one condition for you. I want your eldest daughter to be my chosen mate. But before me and her do the deeds… I want her to come live with me in my kingdom for a month, then as soon as she gets used to being the...” Abasi cut him off with a growl. “Over my dead body, you cannot expect me to just hand you, my daughter, just like that.” He was fuming. Jefar glared at Abasi like a fool. “Be careful what you wish for, Abasi. Believe me when I say I can make such wishes come true.” He was taunting him. Abasi looked at him and saw that he wasn’t joking. He thought about his family and the pack, asking himself if it would be worth it to agree and give away his daughter. He knows she will get angry at him for doing that. Maybe he should just call her in to share her opinion on this matter. He is already feeling bad for lying about how the king got to know about their world and if his family finds out that he was the one that contacted him to aid their pack, they will be disappointed in him, and that is the last thing he wanted to go through. “Can I at least talk to her or allow her to speak for herself?” He willed his face to remain expressionless. “Well, my friend, it seems like they don’t know what you have done. But I guess I will have to keep the end of my bargain. But, let’s rather continue this conversation over breakfast tomorrow morning. Right now, I need food, and I hope your pack has cooked.” He stood up from the chair and walked out of the office as if he owned the place. His beta and delta left the office, following him behind. They got to the dining hall where they had been seated at their table since they were guests. But Jefar sat with everyone and they joined the table, along with the rest. “I may be a king, but I don’t treat people differently when eating.” He was watching Hehet and her pups, but mostly the eldest daughter. “You are one weird king,” Jendayi spoke with a jaded tone. Jefar looked at her in astonishment. “You are one brave girl.” He smirked. Everyone came in and took their seats, looking at the visitors. They placed trays of food on the table. Jefar looked at all varieties of meats, vegetables, and bread with a raised eyebrow because he was used to being served. “What is this?” He asked, motioning his hand around the table. “This is how we eat. You serve yourself according to your appetite,” Abasi replied nonchalantly. “You may eat.” His voice boomed through the dining hall, ignoring an amused Jefar as everyone placed food on their plates and ate. While the King was watching until his beta put food for him on a plate and placed it on the table in front of him. "This is some weird experience." He mumbled to himself. After dinner, everyone left except the visitors and the Malak family. “The food was delicious,” Alpha king Jefar complimented with a smile. “Would you like some coffee, your highness?” Luna Hehet stared at him. “Of course, Luna, and please add some cookies to it.” He said, grinning. She left for the kitchen and the pups excused themselves. “Maat, before you go, can you please show these gentlemen where their rooms are?” Abasi asked her, pointing at the beta and delta. “Okay, gentlemen, follow me.” She glared at the Alpha King, since his eyes were constantly on her. They stood up and followed her. The remaining were just Jefar and Abasi. “You need to stop these games you are playing as if you are not glad to see me here. You don’t want to see your family be disappointed in you for what you did. So I suggest you act normal and happy to have us here.” Jefar whispered to Abasi with a snarl. “How did you expect me to be normal when you came on the day that we didn’t agree upon?” He whisper-yelled. While they were whispering and arguing, there was a figure standing in the corner, listening to their conversation. Luna Hehet served coffee with cookies, as per Jefar’s request. “So tell me Jefar, how did you find us, because this realm cannot be entered by just anyone unless one of us tells you exactly what to look for?” Luna Hehet asked him, but glancing at Abasi. Jefar cleared his throat before answering. “I was on this far side of the world and stumbled upon a cave, but what intrigued me is how it looked like a never-ending tunnel, so I just got curious and here I am.” He lied. She nodded in suspicion and drank her coffee. After drinking coffee, his beta came to him. “Your highness, the room is ready.” Jefar stood up from the chair and bid him goodnight, then walked away, following Tedros. As soon as he got to the bedroom, Tedros spoke. “Jefar, I cannot communicate with my wolf, but I can feel him. These people are not used to talking to their wolves and, what will happen once they leave this place and hear them in their heads?.” He asked while watching him taking off his shoes. “So what are you planning, because I can see the wheels are turning in your head?” Tedros added, staring at him doubtfully. “Well, let’s just say I will reveal my plans once that old fool signs the documents and I have his daughter with me in the kingdom.” He replied with an evil grin. “Okay, I guess I will see you tomorrow then, good night,” Tedros said without waiting for his response and walked out of the door and closed it.
