Wyatt POV
Around midnight, I received a text message from Raine's source saying that he would be meeting us in my room in fifteen minutes. I mind linking with my brothers to let them know.
I pull out my computer and mobile wi-fi device with encryption that will keep anyone from hacking into my computer. I bring up the video footage I created last night of my brothers and me sleeping in our rooms.
I will need to hack into the surveillance system to create a loop using the videos of my brothers and I. I wish I could mute the microphones as well; however, that may draw attention. I don't want to risk getting caught.
Before coming here, I had done some homework on Alpha Maverick's surveillance system. The surveillance system is state of the art with the most up-to-date firewalls. However, I did find a weakness that I could exploit to hack into the surveillance system.
It doesn't take me long to get into the surveillance system. I'm tempted to look around and see what I can find; however, that will draw attention that we don't need right now. Plus, I have a feeling that I wouldn't find much. Something tells me that Alpha Maverick doesn't keep incriminating evidence on his servers. No, I would imagine that he keeps digital copies on disks or portable drives so that no one can hack into his files. Or he could also keep paper files as well.
I called up the camera footage for my brothers and my rooms. I cut the live feed and switched it to the recorded feed. I double check to make sure I didn't trip any alarms. So far, it looks like I didn't trip any alarms. I now need to switch the live feed in the hallways to the record feed; this way, my brothers and, hopefully, Raine's source can enter my room without anyone knowing it.
I mind link, my brothers, that the coast is clear. Within moments, both my brothers entered my room. Since I couldn't do anything about the microphones in the room without raising alarms, we will have to mind link with each other and write our conversations out with Raine's source. It's not ideal, but it will have to do. I don't want to risk us getting caught.
"I hope we aren't making a mistake by trusting Raine's contact," Nathan mind links us.
"I hope not either. However, we don't have a choice. Just from the little, we have seen, this place is not easy to get in or out of. We will need help," I mind link, my brothers.
"True. I was thinking. I think it would be best to kidnap Remi after we formally leave if we can locate her. This way, it won't lead back to us right away, and we will have time to get back to our pack," Nathan mind links
"That's not a bad idea. The only problem is that we will have to get back into the pack house after we have left. Let's see what we are up against tomorrow when Alpha Maverick gives us a tour of his pack lands. This way, we better understand what we are up against. Then we need to locate where Alpha Maverick is keeping Remi," I mind linking my brothers
"He's keeping Remi somewhere in the pack house and close to him. Remi is very valuable to him, and he isn't going to want her far from his reach," Micah mind links
"That makes sense. He isn't going to trust anyone but himself to keep her hidden away. We need to locate her. Let's check to see if Raine's contact knows where Remi is," I mind link.
"Can't you use the surveillance system to find Remi?" Micah mind links
"It is too risky. The more I poke around, the more likely I am to trip an alarm and alert Alpha Maverick of what we are up to. However, if Raine's contact doesn't know where Remi is, I will locate her using the surveillance system," I mind link.
"We could always scope the place out," Nathan says
"That's too risky. This place has too many cameras, and many of them are hidden. Remember, we don't want them to know that it was us that took Remi," I tell Nathan
From what I have seen so far, Alpha Mavericks fire walls get progressively more difficult to bypass the deeper into the system you go. I'm betting the live camera feed for Remi's room has extra layers of security, which could take time to bypass without tripping an alarm. I was lucky that I only had one firewall to bypass to switch from the live feed to the record feed for our rooms and the hallways.
A few moments later, Raine's contact knocks softly on the door. I go to the door and open it just a crack to make sure that he is alone, which he is. I open the door wider to let him in, and I put my finger to my lips, letting him know to remain silent. He nods his head in understanding.
I grab a pad of paper and pen, which I write, "I'm Alpha Wyatt. You are?"
"My name is Murphy. I'm one of the pack warriors," Murphy writes, handing the pad back to me.
"Nice to meet you. Raine mentioned that you are willing to help us get Remi out in exchange for you and your family's asylum. Is this still the case?" I write, handing the pad to Murphy.
"Yes. Thank you for offering us asylum," Murphy writes, handing the pad to me
"Let's get down to business," I write and show everyone.
"Murphy, when we came in, I noticed a heavy-duty fence. Does it circle the entire pack?" I write, handing the pad to Murphy.
"No. It just follows the road. Once the road veers off and is no longer running along the pack lands, the fence ends," Murphy writes, showing us and handing the pad back to me. I then pass it to Nathan.
"Do you know where Remi is located in the pack house?" Nathan writes and hands to the pad to Murphy.
"Not the exact location; however, she is located on the third, where the Alpha family resides," Murphy writes and hands the pad back to Nathan.
"Is there extra security on the third floor?" Nathan writes and hands the pad back to Murphy
"Yes. There are more cameras and a sensor at the top of the stairs that alerts Alpha Maverick of anyone's presence on the third floor. Also, I believe that Remi's bedroom door is always locked." Murphy writes and hands the pad back to Nathan.
"This is going to be a lot harder than we thought." Nathan mind links Micah and me.
"Who holds the key, and is there more than one key?" Nathan writes and hands the pad to Murphy
"Alpha Maverick is the only one that has a key. I'm not sure if there is a spare key," Murphy writes and hands the pad back to Nathan.
"f**k, this is nearly impossible. How are we going to get Remi out of her room?" Nathan mind links Micah and me.
"I may have an idea," I mind link, my brothers.
"Is it possible to get into Remi's room from her bedroom window?" I write and hand the pad to Murphy
"It might be. I will need to find out which window is Remi's and then see if there are any sensors around the window," Murphy writes and hands me the pad.
"Is there a way to get on and off the property without being seen?" I write and hand the pad to Murphy
"It's tricky, but it can be done. Why do you ask?" Murphy writes and hands me the pad back.
"My brothers and I were thinking that it may be a good idea to take Remi after we leave and hopefully avoid drawing attention to ourselves. May buy us the time we need to get back to our pack," I write and hand the pad to Murphy.
"If that is the case, then I need to look into some things," Murphy writes and hands the pad to me.
"When do you think you will have the information for us," I write and hand the pad back to Murphy
"I should have it by tomorrow night," Murphy writes and hands the pad back to me.
"Good. Let's meet at the same time tomorrow and go over what we have," I write and show Murphy, who nods his head.
With that, Murphy leaves, and then my brothers. I wait about ten minutes before I switch the feedback to live. Hoping this gives Murphy enough time to slip out to the pack house.
"This is going to be a far more complicated rescue than we first thought," I hear Nathan through the mind link.
"How the hell are we going to get an unconscious Remi down from the third-floor window?" Micah snaps
"Getting Remi out of her third-floor window isn't a problem. We can have someone waiting outside below the window to catch Remi
as we drop her. The biggest problem is going to be getting to the pack house undetected and back out undetected," Nathan says
"I can set the cameras on a loop like I did tonight. I need to know the route we will take so that the night cameras are on the loop or completely turned off. Then there is the matter of the portals. The good news is, there don't seem to be many people out and about at night. Though that may be because we are here," I mind link my brothers
"That may be a problem. When we leave, they are going to go back to business as usual, which may mean more people around during the nighttime," Nathan mind links
"After tomorrow, I should have a better idea of how strong their warriors are and how they fight. Why does this have to be so f*cking complicated," Micah grumbles.
"Tomorrow, let's gather as much information about the terrain, warriors, and any other information that may help us in rescuing Remi," I mind link—purposely ignoring Micah's comment.
"We better get some sleep; we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow," Nathan says.
"I hope this Murphy guy can get us whatever information he needs tomorrow," Micah grumbles.
"Good night. See you soon," I mind linking and closing the connection.
Typical Micah doesn't want to rescue Remi because it isn't easy. Micah is such a pain in the ass. I know that he doesn't want to leave Remi here and isn't happy at the possibility that Remi may be our mate. I wish he would grow up and stop whining when things get complicated.
