To new beginnings or…

"Wakey wakey! Sleeping beauty.. We are about to reach." I slowly opened my eyes and looked up at him. He was smiling warmly.. I smiled & snuggled up to him.

The fourteen hours journey didn’t seem long as I slept most of the way because I was too tired mentally as well physically.. "Would they forgive me, Raj?" I whisperd sadly, he looked at me and kissed my forehead.

"Time will tell that Roop..and I know they'll accept our love..they'll have to..it'll be fine.. stop worrying okey? and enjoy the time here with me. Your mine now and I won’t let this stuff get to you."

I felt happy I had him with me, to protect me..nothing could stop us now.. After a few minutes the flight attendant informed everyone that the plane had landed safely and we could exit the plane.

We then headed towards JFK airport. It was huge & filled with people from all around the world..

I would have gotten easily lost if I would have travelled all alone but thankfully I had him with me. We went through the security procedure and then claimed our luggage and other necessary documents..

The weather was humid and crisp but not unbearable. We crossed the terminal 4 and headed outside.. "Taxi!!.." Raj called out loudly and the yellow cab came in front of us. He opened the door for me.

"What about your relatives? Arent they coming to pick us up?" I asked with a frown.

"Uh.. no actually they are not.. I told them though.." We got interrupted.

"Hey mister! You getting in or what!?" The cabdriver barked loudly at us.

"Just get in and I'll explain you everything." I glared at him and then got in the taxi.

"Hotel pennsylvania..take us there!" The cabdriver understood right away and drove on.

"So you didn’t tell them about me and that’s why your taking me to a hotel." He could see I was not at all happy about it.

"Uh.. yes your right but don’t worry I'll stay with you because I haven’t told them when I'll be coming there.. I just gave them the possibility that I might."

"So you lied to me?" I folded my arms and glared again at him.

"Yes.. a bit which actually saved you from getting married to a stranger.. It was worth it Roop!.. Besides it’s the same thing whether we live in a hotel or with my relatives."

"It’s not Raj! we can’t live in a hotel forever.. it'll be too costly. You know that right!" I replied in annoyance.

"I know baby.. and I’m sorry.. we won’t stay in the Hotel for long.. you just relax!.. I'll come up with something & then we'll head to my relatives.. alright?" I sighed.

"You promise?"

"I promise. No lies!. Just truth, always.." He said confidently with a broad smile. I lost my temper in an instant and snuggled up against his shoulder I hope my parents find us soon so that we don’t have to live like this" I said dully.

“I hope the same too.” he replied back indifferently but I didn’t ask why as I knew he was too tired doing everything for me all by himself, we reached the hotel in an hour safely & in one piece thanks to the cabdriver. It wasn’t like I hadn’t seen hotels before but this one was enormous.

It was magnificent & elegant in a peculiar way. I waited in the lobby admiring the place while raj went to book a room for us. It was all foreign & new to me & why wouldn’t it be.. I was in a foreign country surrounded by foreign people. It felt strange running away from loved ones to be with my loved one. But I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but here with him!. His love strengthened my decision and I don’t regret what I did because I feel we are meant to be together forever..

"Rooop!" I heard his voice which jolted me back from my stream of thoughts and I looked at him.

"C’mon. We have got the room. Let’s go!" I smiled & followed him to our room. The room was cozy & had a spacious view of the whole city covered with beautiful curtains. With a double bed in the middle & bathroom on the other end..

"So.. what do you think?" Raj asked putting his hands on his waist.

"It’s perfect!!" I smiled & hugged him tightly. He lifted me up in his arms and laid me on the bed. He then brought his face close to mine & twirled a strand of my hair around his finger.

"It had to be perfect for my girl. No compromise." His warm breath so close sent shivers down my spine, my heartbeat raced but I laid there still with him on top.

"You’re so beautiful." he closed his eyes and came in for a kiss but I quickly turned my face the other side and I had a good reason for doing so.. Raj backed away & gave me a displeased look.

"What’s wrong?! You don’t want me?" Why would he think like that I thought, after what I did to be with him but I didn’t argue "No.. it’s just we shouldn’t do something that we might regret later on." he laughed snidely

"You already did Roop..you ran away!" I frowned & replied angrily

"You think I regret coming here with you!?..what are you saying? I..I don’t Raj!.." he smoothed his hairs arrogantly.

"but your actions speak otherwise."

I couldn’t believe my Raj, the guy I fell deeply in love with said that.

"And here I thought you knew me better.. I’m done talking to you.. I’m leaving!" I got up from the bed & walked towards the door but he caught hold of my waist from behind and brought me closer to him.

"Did I just blow up the volcano?" he whispered in my ear softly but I was still upset about what he said to me "Yes.. big-time!" I spoke loudly. He then turned me around to face him.

"So do you think a bottle of champagne would cool it down a bit?" I looked at him but his alluring smile caught me so I moved away showing him my back.

"Maybe.. I don’t know! You know how hot it can be.. it might not work.." he chuckled

"hmm.. then I’ll get two bottles just to be on the safe side" He then moved forward & kissed me on the cheek "I’m so sorry!. I’ll be back in a min." A smile appeared on my face.

"Stupid." I then went & opened the curtains. The view outside was mesmerizing. New York looked even more colorful with bright lights in the night..

I stared at the city for a while & then went to the bathroom to get fresh & when I came back, Raj had already poured champagne in two glasses..

"Madame for you.. would this cool down the volcano or am I too late?" I giggled & took the glass from him "Stop it.. you’re too much! you know that!" he laughed & raised his glass.

" To new beginnings!" he said proudly "to our love & freedom." I said happily & drank all up in one go.. I never had a drink before but this was an exceptional case as I wanted to celebrate..

Raj raised the bottle. "Another one?" I nodded.

He then filled my glass but before I could take a sip from the glass my body started shivering.. I felt dizzy.. everything started moving in front of my eyes even Raj.. it felt unnatural. My vision got blurry..

I narrowed my eyes but it didn’t help as my whole body went numb & stopped responding to me

"Rrraaj.." I stuttered and reached out for his hand but before I could feel his touch..

I lost control and fell on the floor unconscious.
