Hello readers!
Lets get jealous!
Lyn Pascual,Jacobs couldn't shake off the feeling that something was going terribly wrong in her life. On the surface, everything seemed ideal. Lyn, a 36-year-old woman, and her husband Sinan, age 35, had been married for a couple of blissful years. Together, they managed a successful digital marketing business and had two beautiful children, Saina and Shawn. Lately, however, Lyn noticed that each time Sinan mentioned his new business partner Dana Morel, the seeds of jealousy would spring forth uncontrollably in her chest, creeping into her bones like cold tendrils.
The dynamic duo had been running the company for over a decade when they finally decided to bring in more help. This decision was primarily motivated by Sinan's numerous business trips, which left Lyn to grapple with the mounting responsibilities at home. After months of searching for the perfect candidate, Sinan introduced Dana Morel, an Ivy League-educated ientrepreneur with an impressive resume, as the newest member of their team.
Though they had only met a few times before her official induction, Lyn couldn't help but feel a wave of jealousy wash over her as Sinan beamed with excitement while announcing the news. After all, Dana was exactly the kind of woman that Lyn thought Sinan would rightfully find attractive - intelligent, driven, and successful. Furthermore, although she was extremely knowledgeable in her field, Lyn couldn't help but suspect that there might be more to Dana's relationship with Sinan due to their unnervingly close rapport during their infrequent interactions.
Since the addition of Dana to the team, Sinan's business trips only seemed to increase in both number and duration. He had been away for several weeks before Lyn had discovered the startling news that would only serve to exacerbate her jealousy. During a routine visit to her doctor, she found out she was pregnant with their third child. The joy and shock of such a revelation are usually shared by both partners in the marriage, but Lyn couldn't immediately tell Sinan about the pregnancy due to his hectic travel schedule. With each passing day, her festering jealousy and fears grew - gnawing away at her normally confident, secure self.
The more time Lyn spent thinking about the implications of having a third child while managing the business with an absent husband who constantly basked in Dana's company, the more her jealousy and insecurities intensified. She found herself pouring over social media posts, scrutinizing every interaction and body language between Sinan and Dana in photos taken at meetings and other work events. Straining to discern any indication of inappropriate or overly intimate behavior, the corners of her mind deteriorated as each subtlety morphed into glaring evidence of betrayal.
In her weakest moments, she would imagine confronting Sinan in a fury of uncontained rage, tears streaming down her face as she demanded the truth: Did he love Dana? She would envision scenarios where Sinan left her to be with his ambitious partner, tearing apart their family, leaving her utterly heartbroken and alone with three children to care for. Sleep eluded her night after night as these agonizing thoughts consumed her.
It wasn't long before Lyn's once iron-clad confidence in her and Sinan's relationship began to waver. Her easy-going, engaging demeanor started to dissipate, replaced by a distant, withdrawn shell of her former self. Sinan took notice of the change in her behavior and became concerned, but his reassurances did little to ease her growing sense of paranoia.
"My love, what's going on?Lately I've notice the changed in you?Am I causing you trouble??What's bothering you.?"ask Sinan.
"Nothing",Her short response.
While this turmoil unfolded internally, Lyn continued to navigate her duties as a mother and businesswoman, though her now sullen disposition regularly surfaced among those with whom she interacted daily. Persistent thoughts of Sinan's partnership with Dana wore away like acid upon the healthy foundations of her marriage, leaving her feeling vulnerable and increasingly isolated. Platitudes of love and support from friends and family rang hollow, as they seemed incapable of ridding her of the all-consuming cancerous growth within her heart.
Finally, Sinan returned home after weeks of being away on business - this time with Dana in tow. As they entered the house, Lyn caught a glimpse of them joking and laughing together, and the green-eyed monster reared its ugly head, all but engulfing her. It took every ounce of her strength not to succumb to the tidal wave of jealousy and insecurity threatening to drown her in its depths.
Cornering her husband in their bedroom, teardrop-infused words spilled from her trembling lips as she informed him of her pregnancy and her festering jealousy. Sinan looked on with a mixture of disbelief and sadness while reassuring her that his love and devotion had not wavered in all their years together, and Dana was nothing more than an indispensable member of their team. Despite this, Lyn continued to feel insecure about their future.
Can love truly conquer the destructive force of jealousy? Time would reveal the answer, but for Lyn, a tumultuous journey towards healing herself lay ahead. Only when she confronted her inner demons and realized that her spouse's happiness wasn't a threat would she truly be able to let go of the burden of jealousy - liberating her marriage and their future from the malevolent designs of the green-eyed monster. In the end, isn't love the only force capable of quelling the beast that lurks in every dark corner of our hearts?
