Chapter 29. Seduction.

924 Words
Dana stood at the edge of the hotel's rooftop bar, looking out over the sprawling cityscape with a twinkle in her eyes. The lights of the enormous skyscrapers illuminated the night sky and the warm summer breeze playfully tousled her hair, whispering that a night of excitement and possibilities lay ahead of her. The sun had just dipped below the horizon, leaving in its wake a breathtaking spread of orange and red hues. The city had come alive, arousing the dormant spirit of adventure in everyone. Admittedly, Dana had had a couple of cocktails too many. Their company had scored a lucrative business deal earlier that day, and she felt like celebrating. A vague sense of dissatisfaction had been gnawing at her for the past few months, and the triumphant feeling of success was a welcome distraction from the monotonous routine of her life. Sinan was enjoying the panorama as well, but he couldn't seem to shake off the guilt that was settling in his stomach. He knew his wife Lyn would've loved the view from the roof of the Grand Hotel. Leaving her and their two beautiful children at home for his work trip had been difficult, but necessary. It was the kind of sacrifice people like him and Dana had to make when choosing to dedicate themselves to their professional lives. And tonight, despite their recent victory, Sinan had never felt more discontent with that decision. Dana glanced over at Sinan from across the deck – the perfect opportunity had presented itself. The corporate event they had spent weeks preparing for had turned out to be a roaring success, and all that was left was for them to revel in their achievements. Why not take advantage of the high spirits and the alcohol? It was time for Dana to make her move. She tapped Sinan playfully on the shoulder, interrupting his thoughts. "Come on, why so glum? This is supposed to be a celebration!" Sinan tried to smile. "I know, it’s just that…" He paused, hesitant to share his concerns. But something about the way Dana tilted her head and furrowed her brow silently demanded an honest answer. "I can't help but think about Lyn and the kids. This would've been a perfect night to share with them." Seizing the opportunity to connect with him on an emotional level, Dana softened her voice, expressing just enough vulnerability to draw him in. "I understand. It's tough feeling like you're missing out on your family's life. But Sinan, we work hard for a reason. Our efforts pay off in the end, allowing us to give our families the lives they deserve." As Dana spoke, Sinan couldn't help but notice how the faint glow from the city below accentuated the curve of her neck and the sparkle in her eyes. It had been a long time since he'd had a conversation like this with Lyn because he is always on a trip away from home. He had been feeling sorry for his wife, and their kids. Dana, sensing that Sinan was pulling away from her, moved closer, letting her hand linger on his arm just a moment longer than necessary. "You deserve a night of fun, Sinan," she whispered, her eyes locking on to his. "You deserve to be happy. Let your hair down a little." But contrary to her intentions, Dana's words struck a different chord in Sinan's mind. A wave of remorse washed over him as he recalled the love and commitment he had sworn to his wife. In that instant, he realized just how close he was to betraying Lyn, the woman who had his heart. Summoning all the strength he had, Sinan pulled away from Dana, taking a step back to put distance between them. "Dana, I can't," he said firmly, avoiding her gaze. "I love Lyn too much, and she's counting on me to be faithful to her, even when I'm on the other side of the world. Our kids deserve to grow up in a home built on trust, and I won't jeopardize that for a night of fun." Stunned and embarrassed, Dana's face turned a deep shade of crimson. She had never expected this kind of reaction from Sinan, and she didn't know what to say. Sinan took a deep breath, mustering the last bit of his courage. "I think it would be best if we keep our relationship strictly professional," he added softly, hoping to minimize the impact of his rejection. Feeling a strange mixture of relief and sadness in equal measures, Sinan turned and walked away from Dana, leaving her there amidst the twinkling city lights, a reminder of what they both stood to lose if they had crossed the line between business and pleasure. As he exited the rooftop, his heart ached for the love and security of his family, the warmth he knew awaited him in their adoring embrace. This newfound resolve, however, only deepened Dana's dissatisfaction. As she watched Sinan disappear into the hotel, she couldn't shake the feeling that the universe had just handed her a lesson in respecting the sanctity of love and commitment. Is she going to give up?? Dana may need some time to reflect on her actions and reassess her priorities. This experience could serve as a wake-up call for her, prompting her to reevaluate what truly matters in life. Whether she chooses to give up pursuing Sinan romantically or not, she might realize the importance of respecting boundaries and commitments, both in her professional and personal relationships.
