Jacob moved fast, getting up before I even had a chance to react. I stood up slowly, my body still stiff, and took a step toward Aria— But before I could get close, Jacob’s voice cut through the air, firm and unwavering. “Don’t move from your seat.” His hazel eyes locked onto mine, filled with quiet authority. “I need to make sure she’s fine and that she doesn’t hurt you again.” I froze.
