Ella The morning felt colder than usual, or maybe it was just me. I’d been up for hours, staring at the ceiling and thinking about Aidan. He didn’t come to the stables yesterday, even though he was supposed to help. He just vanished, like the punishment didn’t matter to him. I was furious. By the time I got dressed, my anger had reached a boiling point. If Aidan thought he could skip out and leave me to do all the work, he had another thing coming. I stormed out of the dorm, ignoring the ache in my ankle, and headed straight for the library. Aidan was easy to find. He was sitting in the back corner, slouched in one of the large leather chairs. A book rested in his hand, but his eyes weren’t on the pages. They were staring out the window like he didn’t have a care in the world.
