I didn’t even think. The second I saw them—my parents—I ran.
“Mom! Dad!”
My heels clicked against the polished marble as I launched myself forward, skirts flying, tears already blurring my vision. I collided into them with enough force to nearly knock us all over, arms flung around their necks, sobbing into my mother’s shoulder.
“Oh stars, I missed you both so much,” I whispered, voice cracking.
They held me like I was made of glass—like they'd been waiting forever just to hold me again. My mom’s hands trembled on my back, and my father let out a deep sigh that sounded like relief and heartbreak combined.
“My sweet girl,” my mother whispered, brushing the bows from my hair. “You’ve grown so much. And look at you… so beautiful.”
