Ella I looked around wildly, my brain scrambling for an explanation. Did he sleepwalk? Or was this some cruel prank? Whatever the reason, I needed to get out of this situation before he woke up. Carefully, I shifted his arm off me, my movements slow and deliberate. My heart pounded so loudly that I was sure it would wake him. When his arm finally slid off, I held my breath and sat up, inching toward the edge of the bed. I glanced back at him one last time. He looked different when he was asleep—so calm and vulnerable, nothing like the arrogant bully I’d argued with earlier. Shaking my head, I pushed the thought aside. Now wasn’t the time for sympathy. I grabbed a spare blanket and tossed it over him, more for my own sanity than his comfort. Then I slipped out of the room,
