Artemis simply chuckled and hung up without responding to Lucian's questions.
The professor's heart was beating frantically as he imagined the worst. He immediately began scrolling down his contact list, searching desperately for her number.
At that moment, he couldn't even remember if he saved it or not, but he hoped he did. He really hoped he did.
Relief washed through him the moment he saw her name, but it was replaced with worry when he realized the kind of danger she might be in.
