Chapter 17
THE TIPSY LADY IN A BEER FESTIVAL
I was so exhausted after everything that happened for today. Seth sent me to our house, and I only said “goodbye” to him before leaving. Mom was already sleeping when I opened the door of her room. Luckily, I arrived in my bedroom without falling asleep while walking because of tiredness, and although I wanted to hit the sack right away, I had to remove my boots and dress, take off my make up and fix my hair, and do a skincare routine. Great. Just great.
I yawned on my way to the bathroom. After a few minutes of an undeclared war between me, myself, and I, I was finally able to rest my whole body on the bed without worrying about anything but the threats. With the thought of leaving this place to be at peace, I dozed off to sleep.
The next day, everyone seemed like they were not in the mood to smile. Probably, they carried the mood of the mystery party last night to their classes for today. It was not raining, but the atmosphere was very gloomy since I parked my car on the lot behind one building. The moment I entered through the double glass door, all eyes were set on me. My heart suddenly beat fast because of the attention I didn't expect. Although after what happened on the event, I should not be surprised that they remember me. What could be my nickname? The Disco Light girl?
They faced their company and murmured. I shook my head to ease my worry, but I can still feel their stares piercing through my back. I hadn't seen Seth yet. He's the only one who can keep me calm with all of this tension, yet he was nowhere to be seen.
I went to my room for the first class, and there, I found Adamaris sitting alone. The two seats beside her were unoccupied, so I decided to sit on her left side.
“Hey, good morning.”
She was surprised based from how she was startled. She looked at me and sighed. Slowly shaking her head, she put back her things in her bag and stood.
“What's wrong?” I asked.
“Nothing,” she said.
“I was just wondering how are you.”
“I'm fine, but I will not attend the class. I have to go.”
Before I could stop, Adi had already exited the room. When I roamed my eyes, I noticed everyone was staring at me with faces I couldn't read. Later that day, I tried to search for Adamaris or even Seth, but both of them were missing. I sat quietly on one of the benches and moved my eyes around. I saw Adi resting on a table, her arms placed on the table and fingers fidgeting her gadget. The two earphones were plugged into her ears, not minding the glares thrown by other students in the same place with her. No one was near her. The tables surrounding her were empty. The looks from their faces didn't directly imply how they were disgusted of her. What's wrong with these people?
Despite the environment being windy, I had to fan myself. The sun's rays hit my face. Luckily, it was not that hot. I loved my position right now because I get to observe others and their peculiar behavior after the Acquaintance Party.
I did not spot Seth anywhere throughout the day, but I caught a glimpse of Ayuna standing near the intersection of the hallway with a smirk on her face. I rolled my eyes and left the campus driving the car back to our home.
As if I'm going to ask her about it. I would not give her the satisfaction of helping me in my shortcomings.
I parked the car in front of our house. I opened the door and removed my shoes. I placed it on the rack. Mom was watching an afternoon drama. I went to her and kissed her cheeks.
“How's your day?”
I smiled. “It was fine.”
I headed to the laundry area and made sure the windows were closed. I removed my uniform and socks and put it on the laundry, running on the staircase with only my undergarments on.
Nothing happened much, but I felt exhausted after remembering yesterday and today. I decided to call my friend while I was dressing myself. My phone was placed on my bedside table. Rose's face showed up on the screen. There was nothing to be embarrassed though because we've seen each other's bodies for many times.
“What's up? Just got home?”
I nodded. I wore a spaghetti dress and let my long hair dropped on my shoulders.
“Who's that?”
Rose glared. “Don't you dare move here, Reji,” she threatened.
I laughed at it. “You're so harsh.”
Reji's face covered half the screen. His sister pushed him away, but Reji was strong. He waged his hand at me. “Hi, Seah! Looking good.”
“Thanks.”
“Just try to hide your cleavage when you're out with people, especially men.”
“Dude, you're a man.”
“No, I'm gay,” he said in a sweet voice and hilarious gesture. He tucked his imaginary long hair behind his ear. “Seriously, I ain't interested to her. She would be like my sister. Common sense.”
“Whatever.”
I interrupted their upcoming siblings' fight. “Instead of hiding my body from men, especially perverts, I think what they should think first is their mindset because I am not dressing to please their eyes and lust.”
“You go, girl!” he squealed.
“Seriously, dude! Move!” She headbutted her brother. I heard a tremendous bang on the floor and a groan. Rose looked at me. “Have you heard about the Beer Festival?”
“Yes”
“Have you go to it?”
I shook my head. “No one invited me before. What about you?”
“b***h, guess what?”
I raised my brow. “What?”
“We're going to a Beer Festival!” Reji and Rose said in chorus.
He sat down beside her, caressing his head and glaring at her from time to time. I couldn't help but smile at the cute scene in front of me.
“Where?”
“A Beer Festival,” answered Rose. “It's an event that happens every year near our city. It's a three hours drive.”
“When?”
“It already started this Monday, but we're going this Saturday and Sunday. Are you up for it?”
'Saturday and Sunday,' I thought, 'and three hours drive.'
“Who will go with us?”
She pointed her brother. “Of course, Andy and some of our friends, and then Reji and his boys.”
“Have you already talked to them about it?”
“Yes,” both of them uttered with a big smile.
“I will pick you up with Reji at four, so send me your exact address, alright?”
“Sure.”
