The shadow alpha

EPISODE 4 The Shadow Alpha The hall became deathly silent. Selena stared at the black envelope in the guard’s trembling hands while unease crawled slowly through her chest. Something about the blood-red seal felt wrong. Cold. Threatening. Evil. Kael’s silver eyes darkened instantly. “Who delivered it?” he asked coldly. The guard swallowed nervously. “No one saw the messenger, My King. The letter appeared at the palace gates.” Lucas cursed quietly under his breath. “That’s impossible. Guards are stationed there all night.” Kael stepped forward and took the envelope slowly. The moment his fingers touched the seal, Selena felt something strange. A sudden sharp pain shot through the silver mark on her wrist. She gasped softly. Kael noticed immediately. His gaze snapped toward her. “What happened?” Selena pressed her hand against the glowing mark nervously. “It burned.” Lucas frowned. “That can’t be good.” Kael’s expression hardened further before he ripped the envelope open. The room waited silently. Then Kael unfolded the letter. As he read the message, something dangerous flickered across his face. Rage. Pure rage. Selena’s stomach tightened anxiously. “What does it say?” Kael remained silent. Which somehow felt worse. Lucas carefully took the letter from him and read it instead. His expression darkened instantly. “Well,” he muttered grimly, “that’s disturbing.” Selena stepped forward impatiently. “Can someone please stop acting mysterious for five seconds and tell me what’s happening?” Lucas hesitated briefly before reading aloud. “You stole what belongs to me. Return the Lunar Wolf willingly, or I will paint your kingdom with blood. — Shadow Alpha.” Silence crashed heavily over the room. Selena felt ice spread through her veins. The Lunar Wolf. They were talking about her. Kael slowly crushed the letter in his fist. “No one touches her.” The deadly calmness in his voice sent chills through everyone nearby. Lucas sighed heavily. “The Shadow Alpha never makes empty threats.” Selena frowned. “Who exactly is he?” Nobody answered immediately. Which terrified her even more. Finally Lucas spoke quietly. “His real name used to be Damon Blackthorn.” Kael’s expression darkened at the name. “He was once part of the royal bloodline,” Lucas continued carefully. “One of the strongest Alphas in history.” Selena listened silently. “Years ago, Damon tried taking control of all werewolf kingdoms by force. Thousands died during the war.” Her chest tightened. “And Kael stopped him?” Lucas nodded slowly. “The Shadow Alpha disappeared after losing.” “But apparently,” Kael said coldly, “not permanently.” Selena looked down nervously at the silver mark glowing faintly on her wrist. “Why does he want me?” Kael’s jaw tightened. “Because the Lunar Wolf possesses abilities capable of changing the balance between kingdoms.” “That still explains nothing.” Lucas exchanged another glance with Kael. Then quietly admitted— “Legends say the Lunar Wolf can either save the werewolf world…” His expression became serious. “…or destroy it.” Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Selena rubbed her forehead tiredly. Three days ago her biggest problem was surviving pack bullying. Now ancient supernatural warlords apparently wanted her because of some prophecy. This had to be a nightmare. Kael suddenly stepped closer to her again. “You’re staying under heavy protection from now on.” Selena immediately frowned. “You keep saying that like I’m some prisoner.” “You’re a target.” “I didn’t ask for any of this!” The frustration finally exploded from her chest. Everyone fell silent. Tears burned painfully behind Selena’s eyes, but she refused to let them fall. “I spent years being invisible,” she whispered shakily. “Now suddenly everyone either fears me or wants to kill me.” Kael stared at her quietly. Then surprisingly— “I know what that feels like.” Selena blinked in shock. For a moment, real emotion flickered behind his cold mask. Loneliness. Pain. Gone instantly. Lucas awkwardly cleared his throat. “Well… this emotional moment is nice, but we still have a psychotic Alpha threatening war.” Kael’s face hardened again immediately. “Double security around the palace.” Lucas nodded. “Already done.” “No one enters Selena’s wing without my permission.” Selena sighed. “There it is again.” Kael looked at her calmly. “What?” “The controlling behavior.” His silver eyes darkened slightly. “You say that like it’s temporary.” Heat rushed into Selena’s face instantly. Why did everything this man say sound dangerously intense? Before she could respond, another sharp pain suddenly shot through her wrist. Selena gasped. The silver mark glowed brighter than before. Then— Images flashed violently through her mind. Blood. Fire. Screaming. A massive dark forest beneath a crimson moon. And glowing silver eyes staring directly at her from the shadows. Selena stumbled backward in horror. Kael caught her immediately before she hit the floor. “Selena.” His voice sounded distant. The vision disappeared instantly. Selena’s breathing became uneven. “What did you see?” Kael demanded quietly. She looked up at him shakily. “I…” Fear tightened painfully in her chest. “There was fire everywhere.” Lucas frowned immediately. “A vision?” Kael’s grip around Selena tightened protectively. “What else?” Selena swallowed hard. “A man was watching me.” Silence. Then she whispered the worst part. “I think it was the Shadow Alpha.” The room became terrifyingly quiet. Lucas looked genuinely disturbed now. “That’s impossible. He shouldn’t be able to connect with her already.” Kael’s expression became deadly cold. “He’s stronger than we thought.” Selena suddenly realized Kael was still holding her against him. Very close. Close enough to hear his heartbeat. The warmth of his body somehow calmed the panic inside her instantly. Which honestly made no sense. Kael looked down at her slowly. “Did he say anything?” Selena shook her head weakly. “But it felt like he could see me.” A dangerous shadow crossed Kael’s face. Then suddenly— The palace lights flickered. Cold wind rushed violently through the hall. And every candle went out at once. Darkness swallowed the room instantly. Several guards panicked. “What’s happening?!” Then a deep voice echoed through the darkness. Smooth. Cold. Terrifying. “Found you.” Selena’s blood turned to ice. Kael moved instantly, pulling her behind him protectively as silver power exploded through the hall. “Everyone stay alert!” Lucas shouted. The candles suddenly reignited— And a dark figure stood at the far end of the hall. Tall. Dressed completely in black. Face hidden beneath shadows. But his glowing crimson eyes locked directly onto Selena. The stranger smiled slowly. And Selena realized something horrifying. The Shadow Alpha had entered the palace himself.
