Christian’s POV While the idea of a truce was appealing, I knew it wouldn’t be that simple. He still hadn’t given me what I needed. “Your proposal is interesting, Damian,” I said slowly. “But how can I be sure you will honor your end of the bargain? How can I trust you?” Damian met my gaze, his expression sincere. “Because I want what’s best for my pack. And I believe that peace is the only way to achieve that. We can continue to plan to fight and destroy each other, or we can choose a different path.” I studied him for a long moment, weighing his words. There was a part of me that wanted to believe him, to hope that peace was possible. But I couldn’t ignore the reality of our situation, the deep-seated animosity that had driven us to this point. “Very well, Damian,” I said finally.
