Chapter Forty-Eight His business with the tailor concluded, Perry’s next task was to purchase a sword and pistols. He’d brought his sword back with him from India for sentimental reasons and his pistols as a means of defense on the journey—and sold them when it became obvious that he needed money more than he needed mementos of his military career.
