The room was still vibrating with the echoes of their growls when I finally dared to breathe. My back was pressed against the stone wall, the rough edges biting into my skin, but I couldn’t move. The four of them stood in a loose half-circle, shoulders tense, eyes burning in shades of silver, amber, and molten gold. “You lied to us,” Kael’s voice was low, almost calm — which somehow made it worse. His silver gaze pinned me in place like a blade through the chest. “You’ve been hiding what you are.” I swallowed hard, my tongue thick and useless in my mouth. “I didn’t hide it. I just… didn’t tell you everything.” Ronan’s growl was sharp enough to slice the air. “That is hiding.” His hair had fallen into his eyes, shadowing the hard lines of his jaw, but there was no softening in his voice.
