Chapter 22Jim Dempsey had just gotten off the phone in his temporary office in Torino, and was leaning back in his chair. He had his fingers laced together behind his head thinking when John Knox came in. “What are you thinking about, boss?”
“What? I’m sorry, John, I was lost in thought, what did you say?”
“I was just asking you what you were in such deep thought about, Jim.”
Jim was still thinking about the call and was hanging on to part of a thought when he answered in a slow, distracted way. “I just got off a call from a John Elway. John is the editor at La Stampa. He’s an American. He was asking me questions about Tesla. He wanted to know if we were searching for a missing American with a lost file.”
