Chapter 9We were just finishing our drinks when Gino and Maria drove up to the front of the house. I stood up and with a raised voice said, “Ciao Gino we will be right down.” As we started for the door Cindy walked over to get her phone that was charging. When she turned, I signaled no with my finger. She nodded and put the phone back. Out the door and down the steps and into Gino’s new Fiat 500x. “Gino, Maria meet Cindy O’Brian.”
Leaning over from the front passenger seat Maria extended a hand and said, “Piacere mio.“
Then Gino said, “Good to meet you Cindy. Are you the girl in the book?” Cindy gave a look, the kind that feel like a dentist drill.
“I have been told she is a fictional character,” was her reply.
