Sonia stood in front of her dresser, applying a light layer of lip gloss. Her mom, Felicia, sat on the bed, watching her with a concerned expression.
"Mom, I'm telling Michael everything tonight," Sonia said, her voice firm. "I have to. We need to take care of this before Carlos's threat gets out of hand."
Felicia nodded, her eyes filled with worry. "I think that's a good idea, sweetie. Michael needs to know what's going on. But be careful, okay? We don't know what Carlos is capable of."
Sonia nodded, feeling a surge of determination. She was tired of living in fear of Carlos's threats. It was time to take control and face whatever came next.
Just then, Sonia's phone buzzed on the dresser. She picked it up and saw a text from Michael.
"Hey, baby. I'm on my way to pick you up. See you soon."
Sonia smiled, feeling a flutter in her chest. She was ready to face whatever came next, as long as Michael was by her side.
"Mom, I have to go," Sonia said, giving Felicia a quick hug. "Michael's on his way."
Felicia nodded, her expression serious. "Be careful, Sonia. And don't forget to tell Michael everything."
Sonia nodded, grabbing her purse and heading out the door. She was ready to face whatever came next, and she knew that with Michael by her side, she could handle anything.
She stood by the doorway, waiting for Michael to arrive. Her heart was racing with anticipation, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that she was finally going to confide in him about Carlos's threats.
As she waited, she glanced around the living room, making sure everything was in order. Her mom, Felicia, had already retired to her bedroom, leaving Sonia alone to await Michael's arrival.
Just then, Sonia heard the sound of a car pulling up outside. She smiled, knowing that Michael had arrived. She took a deep breath, smoothing out her dress and running a hand through her hair.
As she opened the door, Michael stepped out of the car, looking handsome and confident in his tailored suit. He smiled at Sonia, and she felt her heart skip a beat.
"Hey, baby," he said, walking towards her. "You look stunning."
Sonia blushed, feeling a flutter in her chest. "Thanks, Michael," she said, smiling up at him.
As Michael reached her side, he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close. Sonia felt a sense of comfort and security wash over her, and she knew that she was ready to face whatever came next, as long as Michael was by her side.
Michael took her to his beach house, where they had dinner prepared by his chef. The house was a stunning modern villa with breathtaking views of the ocean.
As they finished dinner, Michael suggested they take a walk along the beach. The sun had set, casting a warm orange glow over the ocean. Sonia agreed, and they strolled hand in hand along the shoreline, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore creating a soothing melody.
As they walked, Sonia felt a sense of peace wash over her. She had never felt so comfortable sharing her past with someone before. Michael's listening ear and empathetic nature made her feel seen and heard.
After their walk, they returned to the beach house, and Michael poured her a cup of coffee. They sat down on the couch, and Sonia continued to open up about her past.
"I'm so sorry I didn't tell you about Carlos sooner," Sonia said, feeling a pang of guilt.
Michael took her hand in his. "You don't have to apologize, Sonia. I understand why you kept it hidden. But I'm glad you're telling me now. I want to be here for you, to support you."
Sonia smiled, feeling grateful for Michael's understanding. "Thank you, Michael. That means a lot to me."
As they sat there, sipping their coffee and talking, Sonia felt a sense of connection with Michael that she had never felt before. She knew that she could trust him, and that he would be there to support her no matter what.
Just then, Michael's phone rang. He apologized and got up to answer it. Sonia watched as he walked over to the window, his expression serious as he listened to the caller.
After a few minutes, Michael returned to the couch, his face grim. "I'm so sorry, Sonia. That was my assistant, Ray. There's been a problem at the office. I need to go and take care of it."
Sonia nodded understandingly. "It's okay, Michael. Go and take care of it. I'll be fine here."
Michael nodded, then leaned over and kissed her. "I'll be back as soon as I can. And Sonia?"
"Yes?"
"I'm glad you told me about Carlos. I'm here for you, and I'll do everything in my power to protect you."
Sonia smiled, feeling a sense of relief and gratitude. "Thank you, Michael. That means everything to me."
As Michael turned to leave, Sonia called out to him. "Michael?"
"Yes?"
"Be careful, okay?"
Michael smiled and nodded. "I will, baby. Don't worry about me."
With that, he turned and walked out of the beach house, leaving Sonia alone to her thoughts.
As she sat there, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She had just shared her deepest secrets with Michael, and now he was gone, leaving her to wonder what would happen next.
She got up from the couch and walked over to the window, looking out at the ocean. The waves were crashing against the shore, and the sound was soothing, but Sonia's mind was racing.
She thought about Carlos and his threats, and she wondered what he would do if he found out that she had told Michael everything. She thought about Michael and his promise to protect her, and she wondered if he would be able to keep that promise.
As she stood there, lost in thought, Sonia heard a noise behind her. She turned to see Lisa, Felicia's house maid, standing in the doorway.
"Lisa, what are you doing here?" Sonia asked, surprised.
"I came to check on you, Miss Sonia," Lisa replied. "Your mom was worried about you, and she asked me to come and make sure you're okay."
Sonia smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her mom. "Tell my mom I'm fine, Lisa. Michael and I were just talking, and he had to leave to take care of something."
Lisa nodded and turned to leave, but then she stopped and turned back to Sonia. "Miss Sonia, can I ask you something?"
"Of course, Lisa. What is it?"
Lisa hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I couldn't help but overhear some of your conversation with Michael. Is everything okay, Miss Sonia? You seemed really upset."
Sonia sighed and nodded. "Everything's fine, Lisa. I was just telling Michael about my ex-husband, Carlos. He's been making some threats, and I'm a little worried."
Lisa's expression turned serious. "I'm so sorry, Miss Sonia. But you're safe now. Michael will take care of you, and so will we. We won't let anything happen to you or Gabriel."
Sonia smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Lisa. "Thank you, Lisa. That means a lot to me."
As Lisa turned to leave, Sonia called out to her. "Lisa?"
"Yes, Miss Sonia?"
"Please don't mention this to anyone, okay? I don't want anyone to know about Carlos's threats."
Lisa nodded. "I won't say anything, Miss Sonia. I promise."
With that, Lisa turned and left, leaving Sonia alone once again. But this time, she didn't feel as scared or alone. She knew that she had people who cared about her, people who would do everything in their power to protect her.
