His body was tense as he moved to walk away. My chest tightened.
“Please,” I called out softly, my voice cracking in exhaustion. He froze, but didn’t turn around.
I sat up on the bed, and ran my fingers through my hair in frustration.
“I’m tired, Knox.” I whispered with pain in my voice. “This… this isn’t what I thought it would be. I thought—” I paused to steady myself, I was done crying. “This is not… this is not what I signed up for. I left everything behind, and for what?”
