The Lost Omega

Chapter Four

She couldn't have slept with a man in her apartment because it was too dangerous, but for some reason she found the wolf to be less intimidating. This wolf posed less of a threat than the others. She slammed the door behind her, turned off the light, and climbed into bed feeling more secure than she had since the day she realized there were monsters in the world. She had been awakened by the realization that there were monsters in the world.

Levi stood up and sat at the table. Have you heard the tale of the Marock and the Indian maiden, have you? She was unable to interpret his words because not only was he speaking in a manner that was incomprehensible to her, but also his face was turned away from her.

She responded with a "No."

He let out a brief laugh, but she didn't find anything humorous about what he said. "The fact that my mother was so lovely helped her avoid certain death. While she was foraging for herbs in the wild, she was startled by a moose. After being run over by it, she was on the verge of passing away when my father, who had been drawn to the noise, came upon her. By transforming my mother into a werewolf, he was able to save her life."

He got the bagels out of the basket and placed them on the table alongside the napkins. After taking a seat, he motioned for her to move to the other available seat. "Get started on your meal, and I'll fill you in on the rest of the details."

He had presented her with the blueberry flavor. She sat down across from him and took a bite of her food.

He signaled his contentment with a nod and then continued. "Apparently, for both of them, it was a case of love at first sight when they saw each other for the first time. It must have been the way that they looked at each other at first, because neither of them initially understood the language spoken by the other. Everything was going swimmingly until she found out she was pregnant. When my mother told her father that she needed to keep her human form until i was born, he helped her because he was a person of magic. My mother's father was his father. Consequently, she maintained her human identity even when my father and brother went on their monthly moonlit hunts. And with each passing month, she became weaker and frailer. Because he was concerned that she was going to kill herself, my father argued with both her and her father."

Cassie asked her friend, "Why did she do that?"

Levi looked at her with a frown. "How long have you been a werewolf?" "How old are you?"

"It had been three years from the previous August."

He stated that werewolf women are unable to conceive children. "The fetus development will suffer as a result of the change. They go through a miscarriage between the third and fourth months."

Cassie fixed her gaze on him. That was something that she had never heard before.

After staring at her for a considerable amount of time, he continued. "She persisted until the time of my delivery, despite the opposition of my father. She was unable to survive the ordeal because the magic she used to resist the moon's call made her weak. I was not changed into a werewolf like the others; I was born with this ability. It endows me with a few additional abilities, such as the speed with which I can change."

She expressed her sentiment by saying, "That would be nice."

"It's still painful," he said further.

She entertained herself by playing with a piece of bagel. "Are you planning to look for the boy who has gone missing?"

His jaw became more tense. "No. We are aware of Alan freizer's location."

Something in his tone of voice indicated it to her. "Is he already dead?"

He nodded. "There are some trustworthy individuals looking into his death, and they will determine who is to blame for it. He was changed against his will, and the girl who was with him at the time was put to death. After that, he was taken to a laboratory and put to use as a guinea pig. The perpetrator of the crimes will be held accountable and will pay the price."

She started to ask him something else, but the door to her apartment suddenly flew open and hit the wall behind it. Rebic was left standing in the open doorway after the door hit the wall.

Because she had been concentrating so hard on Levi, she had missed Rebic's ascent of the stairs. She'd forgotten to lock her door after Karin left. It's not like it would have helped her very much anyway. Rebic possessed a key to the apartment she lived in.

When he walked through the door, acting as if he was the owner of the establishment, she couldn't help but flinch. "Payday," he said. "I am owed a check from you." He turned his attention to Levi. "It is time for you to depart. There is some business to be done between the lady and I."

Cassie had a hard time believing that even Rebic would speak to Levi in such a manner. She looked at him to get a sense of his reaction and realized why Rebic had gotten himself into that situation.

Levi was preoccupied with the food on his plate, with his gaze fixed on his hands. Still looking down, he mumbled, "I don't think it'd be a good idea for me to go." It's possible that she needs my assistance.

Rebic's bottom lip turned upward. "Where did you get this, you nasty little thing? Wait here until I tell Jason that you found a stray but haven't told him about it yet." He moved to the other side of the room and grabbed a handful of her hair. He used it to force her to stand up and then pushed her against the wall with his hip in a gesture that was both s****l and violent. He moved his face closer and closer to hers. "Just you wait. It's possible that he'll give in and agree to let me punish you once more. I'd like that."

Because she recalled the most recent occasion on which he had been authorized to discipline her, she was unable to control her reaction. He took pleasure in her anxiety and positioned himself so that she could feel him pressing in on her.

Levi continued to speak quietly as he explained, "I don't think that she's going to be the one who is going to be punished." But Cassie felt a shift in her composure. He would not allow Rebic to harm her in any way.

She was unable to explain how she had come to that conclusion; however, she was certain that she had learned that the fact that a wolf would not hurt her did not mean that he would prevent anyone else from hurting her.

Rebic growled at the other man, jerking his head away from her so that he could give him an angry look. "I didn't tell you to talk," he said angrily. "I'll take care of you after I finish what I'm doing."

As Levi stood up from his chair, the legs of the chair scraped noisily across the floor. Cassie was able to discern the sound of him lightly dusting off his hands.

He spoke with an entirely different tone of voice and said, "I think you are finished here." "Let her go."

In response to Levi's words, Rebic released her with such haste that it caused her to stagger; however, she did not allow this to slow her down as she ran as far away from him as possible, which was the kitchen. She took care not to drop the marble rolling pin that had belonged to her grandmother when she picked it up to hold it.

Levi saw her weapon and flashed a brief smile at her before turning his attention to Rebic, who was facing away from her. Rebic had his back turned to her at the time.

"Who the hell do you think you are?" Cassie heard fear in Rebic's spittle despite the anger that was audible from Rebic.

"I could return the question," said Levi. "Your name is not on the list that I have compiled of all the werewolves that reside in the Jersey packs. However, that is not the only aspect of my work in this location. Return to your house and relay the information to Jason that Levi Cronin has arrived to speak with him. At seven o'clock this evening, we are going to meet at his home. It's possible that he'll bring his first six and his mate, but the rest of his pack won't come with him."

Cassie was taken aback when Rebic growled once before walking away without making any further objections.

The wolf that had frightened Cassie so badly had not wanted to leave, but as long as Levi was watching, he was not dominant enough to do anything about it. Because of this, Levi waited a few seconds before sneaking behind him and following him quietly down the stairs.
