KAELIN I tossed the ball at the ceiling, watched it bounce off it before falling. I didn't catch. I let it fall, the small, tiny thing bouncing before it raced for the door. I watched it hit the wooden frame, almost bounce back, and repeat the action three times before it came to a stop. Only then did I turn to look at the man tied to the chair in the middle of my office.
