“Is there something you specifically want me to tell you?” Avery asked as she headed to the bathroom while walking past Ian, who followed her in even though he already had his turn.
“I don’t know…maybe.” Ian looked indecisive while she walked over to the sink to use the mouthwash.
“How about this: you tell me what you wanna know and I’ll tell you more about it,” Avery suggested while she washes and rinses her mouth.
“You still haven’t said anything about your mom,” Ian pointed out and Avery flinched. “I’ve been waiting for you to bring it up but you didn’t mention it, but if it makes you uncomfortable, we can always talk about it some other time.” Ian sounded pretty curious and yet considerate of her at the same time, a trait Avery didn’t know could ever go well together.
