Sarah, who was about to hold Rangkuti's hand, immediately gave up. She smiled sweetly at the handsome young man in front of her, then turned to the door to see the person who had dared to destroy her activities.
“Mother, am I . . . ."
Sarah's eyes widened perfectly when she saw Anna entering her room. Anna did not dare to look at her mother's private guest, but not at Rangkuti. He freely looked at the face of Anna, the girl he had once saved from the siege of the village youths. But at that time he could not see Anna's face like now. In her heart, Rangkuti admired God's perfect creation which was now in front of him. He could only swallow saliva. He wanted to know Anna, but he was sad again when he had to remember the lover he had just left without a word.
"What is it, honey? Why did you come into mom's study? Is there anything important that you can't put off until later?”
Anna nodded. She tried to look at her mother's guest, but she couldn't because Sarah took her hand and refused to let her look at the man she admired. Sarah was worried that her daughter would fall in love with Rangkuti and that it might get in the way.
"I'd love to go out for a walk."
Sarah shook her head. She wanted to kick her out but she couldn't do it. She stays sane with other people's assessment of her. Right now Sarah wants to attract Rangkuti's attention, and she doesn't want Rangkuti to judge her as a mother who is rude to her own child.
"Where do you want to go, honey? Do you need an escort?”
Anna shook her head. She didn't understand at all why her mother was so gentle with her. Usually she will yell and forbid her to express her opinion. Anna looked at Rangkuti who was now looking down. She was sure it was the man in front of her who made her mother be as gentle as she is now.
“Can I take Minah with me, Mom? I want to go to the backyard. I saw a lot of people coming here and I wanted to see if my friend was there. She said that she is currently gathering in the backyard with the residents being herded in war tanks by Panglima Syarif."
Sarah wanted to shake her head, rejecting whatever Anna asked, but once again she was completely helpless. She really didn't want Rangkuti in front of her to hate her just because she was rude to Anna.
"Well that's that then. Look at her and invite her in. I want to meet your friend."
Anna's eyes sparkled. She really did not expect that her mother would allow her to meet her best friend. The village girl who she always goes to when she is sad, who is now being gathered by Syarif and his men.
"Is it true that you let me go? Thank you mom. Thank You." Anna's eyes filled with tears. She immediately bowed to Sarah before she changed her mind.
Anna immediately left the room and took Minah who was waiting for her in front of Sarah's study. She quickly ran to the backyard before it was too late. A little too late the soldiers will carry out the execution of the captives.
"Come on, Auntie. I don't want Miranda to be in trouble. She's a good guy. Always giving me advice and comforting me when I'm down. I don't want to lose her. She is my most valuable treasure and doesn't die just because of mother's evil deeds."
"Slow down, Miss. Don't be too fast, Auntie is tired."
Anna ignored Minah's request. She continued to hold Minah's hand and ran towards the crowd of people in the backyard.
“Tell me who told you to bring a communication device? Then who did you contact and what was your relationship with him? Do you think I'm scared? With Sultan Iskandar alone I'm not afraid, especially with your trusted people."
Anna immediately stepped towards the source of the sound. There she saw Miranda being surrounded by Sarif's soldiers. There were some who tried to threaten and frighten her. Miranda's body seemed to tremble. Sweat started pouring down her body while her hands were tightly tied to a pole.
"Stop it. Release her as a soldier. She is my best friend, someone who is always there when I am sad and ever wrong. I've asked my mother for permission to come here to save my friend Miranda. If you still torture her, it means that you don't respect me at all as the only child of the master whom you then respect."
All of Sarif's soldiers stopped their activities. He looked at Anna and was fascinated by the beauty of the girl the soldiers had always talked about. Everyone knows that children are a symbol of the beauty of Sarah's palace, the impact of palace children will really be like a nice old museum that doesn't shine at all. With the children, everyone worked hard and enthusiastically, especially when they were practicing and looked at Anna who was sitting by the window watching them in the field.
Sarif, who knew that the child was not lying, immediately ordered his men to stop torturing Miranda. He approached the child who was still standing, looking at him with sharp eyes. Her eyes filled with tears seeing Miranda's current condition.
"Forgive us Miss. We had absolutely no idea that these lines were friends and if Mrs Sarah found out we stopped the torture then we would definitely be punished. Miss child knows all along. We are always obedient and submit to Madam's orders without exception therefore today. I'm really confused about whether to obey Miss or We continue to carry out this torture because the madam also gave us permission."
"Miranda, I'm sorry I came late. If I had come sooner you definitely wouldn't be this bad. They are really cruel and heartless. I apologize to you on behalf of my mother.” Anna immediately ran and then she approached Miranda who was still tied to the pole. Her hands trembled as she untied the rope that bound her best friend's hands. Her tears were still running down her cheeks making everyone who witnessed her become very moved.
"Anna, you just came. I already thank you for caring for me, I'm sure you fought so hard just to be able to save me here."
Anna nodded as she continued to untie the rope that tied her best friend's body. The soldiers who saw Anna's actions immediately approached Sarif to ask permission to help Anna help her friend, but Syarif shook his head. He didn't want to take too big a risk because he had helped Anna save Miranda, the village girl who was going to be the victim tonight.
"Don't be hasty in your steps. You guys go from here and look for Rangkuti. I'm worried about the kid. Don't let him get close to Madam let alone be chosen as his chosen soldier."
