I couldn't believe that girl laughed in my face when I told her that I had never been in a relationship. I didn't believe in it until I met her. She made me want to change the things I did, and the only thing I knew about her at the time was her name and that she worked for a friend of mine. It was something about Asia that gave me this vibe that she was good for me or that she would make me a better version of myself. I was getting older... hell, I was damn near thirty, and I was still seeing these women as whores that I could f**k and throw to the side like they were dirt on the bottom of my shoes.
It was time for a change, and I was ready to do that for her, but as I told her, I needed her help. Something about that made her laugh, and I felt like putting her out of my car and never calling her again. Instead, I walked her to her apartment, kissed her goodbye, and the next morning I met her again and took her out for breakfast. Then we walked around the park where she used to take her children. She was hurting, and it was killing me to watch her cry and talk about them, then how excited she was when she thought she was about to get them back.
However, that would have never happened if Killer had a heart for children and pregnant women. It had myself thinking about what I wanted to do. It's been a week, and I still wanted to go to my grandfather's home and confront the man who killed her children, but I knew if I did, I would have killed him, but for some reason, I found myself at his home as if I was there to see him.
"Your Grandfather is resting, but I'm glad that you are here though. How could you have agreed to marry that girl when you wouldn't give my daughter a chance? She's a good girl, and you should know that, but you choose a girl that you met on the streets."
"Margaret, what I chose is my decision. I chose who I wanted, not the person that someone wanted me to date. Plus, that would have been incest, wouldn't it? You grew up in this home with my Dad, you think we wouldn't have noticed the similarities? Then, for you to try to set me up with my sister was f*****g disgusting. What kind of person are you?"
"You think you know everything, don't you?" I laughed, shaking my head. That woman was out of her damn mind. I understood taking her to the gala as my plus-one, but the woman must have lost her mind thinking I would date the girl we suspected was our sister. She knew the truth, and so did our dad, but that happened before I was born, since her daughter was about two years older than me. Anyhow, I made my way out the back door where we kept our prisoners.
"There he is. The man of the hour, I wanted to know when you were going to show up. I never thought I would see the day when Sevyn motherfucking Martin falls for a b***h. I would say her p***y must be good, but her ex threw her to the side, telling me it's lame."
"You had one motherfucking job, Killer, and that was to kill Hendrix. What the f**k was that s**t! You started a f*****g war, i***t! His new wife didn't know who the f**k she was, and the kids. Dude, what the f**k, you know my number one f*****g rule! We Do Not Kill Women And Children!" I wanted to break his f*****g neck, but he was going to be Asia's first kill. She was angry and ready to kill the man who was responsible for killing her children, but the only problem was that I ordered the f*****g hit. I was the one he f****d over, which meant I was the one responsible for her babies' deaths.
"Man, I didn't know the children were in the house. I told them it was the two of them, plus the explosion was already set. You said to kill Hendrix, and I did just that. Now I'm in this hellhole because of some bitch...."
"You Don't f*****g Call Her That! You don't know Asia as I do, and you're here because you disobey my f*****g orders. I told you to take out Hendrix, not his whole f*****g family."
"I did my job, but now I'm here being persecuted over it. I hope she's worth it, man, and you better hope she never finds out the truth." He spoke as I let out a deep sigh and punched him a few times. Nothing was going to come between Asia and me. That was a fact, and if I could help it, she would never learn the truth.

"Why am I just learning about you and Sevyn dating finally. I had to learn it from him, and he was a happy camper." Jennifer spoke as I finished up my paperwork for the day. Sevyn and I were going somewhere special, as he described it. I was ready for it since this was different for me. I never had someone do the things for me that he was.
"Yeah, we... I wanted to keep it a secret because I didn't want everyone in our relationship to know. I'm not worried about you, but Hendrix had family, and they are looking for someone to blame."
"The person to blame is right in your face...."
"Becca!" Something about her statement made me stop and look up at her. I know she wasn't trying to say that Sevyn was the reason my children were dead. I understood that he knew Killer, but he only knew the man as a loan shark. Plus, Sevyn wouldn't have ordered a hit on children. Maybe on Hendrix, but not my babies, only a heartless person could do that.
"I know you're not trying to say Sevyn killed my kids, are you?"
"No, nothing like that, but I have known Killer to work with Sevyn from time to time. I'm just saying he could have been following orders and f****d up. Or something like that, I mean, Killer does what Killer wants, even if Sevyn did tell him to kill your ex, he wouldn't have told him to kill his family. His family is nothing like mine." She explained as I shook my head and finished my paperwork, leaving. No, I haven't gotten a car, but Sevyn was letting me use one of his. It was only because I refused to let him buy me one that he made me pick one from his collection.
However, I left work and went straight home to shower and change before meeting Sevyn at the restaurant in the city. Tonight, he took me to this fancy place that overlooked the city. From where we sat, the lights looked like fireflies dancing below us. It was romantic, but I had other things on my mind. One of those things was the gala that was happening in a week. I had never been to anything like that, and I was afraid I was going to make him look bad. Then it was what Becca said before I left work, and I didn't want to start something if it was nothing.
"You look a million miles away right now. What's on your mind, and what can I do to fix it?"
"Did you order the hit on Hendrix?"
"Why would I do that. I didn't even know the man until I met you. Still, I knew him by name."
"You would tell me if you had something to do with it. Would you?" I asked, and he stared at me for a moment, like I'd said something he didn't like. I was testing to see where the two of us stood on things like this. If he wanted me to become his wife, he had to learn that it was an us thing, not Sevyn.
"Why would you ask me something like that? Better yet, who put that bullshit in your head that I had something to do with your Ex's death? If you're asking if I knew Killer and have ever worked for me, then yes. Killer works for my family, but he also does his own thing. I can't answer for those things."
"Then that's a yes. Hendrix owes you that money, and you told him to kill Hen, but he killed him, Mai, and my babies. That's all you had to say, Sevyn, but you made me believe that you know nothing about any of this. Why?"
"Asia, can we not talk about this right now. We are supposed to be on a date now, talking about the stupid s**t that Killer done." I laughed and stood. I didn't have the time for this. All he had to do was tell me the truth from the beginning, but he had to lie about it. How was he planning on having a wife? A damn family if he couldn't f*****g tell the truth. I was pissed for two reasons: he lied to me, and the fact that the man he hired to kill Hendrix killed my kids.
Therefore, I gave him his car keys and left on foot. It wasn't like I could back out of marrying him, but I could make him see how damn mad I was at the moment. I wasn't going to argue or fight with him over the situation. I left and went straight home since we were only a block away from my apartment, but somehow I found myself sitting by the lake that the building overlooked, watching the ducks as they took their nightly swim.
"What did he do? I told that fool that he couldn't just jump right into a relationship without knowing the first thing about how it worked. He promised me he wouldn't be anything like our Dad."
"He didn't cheat or anything. Plus, I don't know if we can even call ourselves a couple. It's only been a week... did you know about the hit he order that killed that family last week?" I questioned Quinton, who cleared his throat and took a seat beside me. His actions told me that he knew, which means that he knew my kids were the ones killed in that fire.
"I was the one who loaned Hendrix the money. He told me he was good on it, but he had to get rid of you first. I thought that meant killing you, but after he divorced you, I thought he planned to kill Mai, but they were not paid a damn dime. I gave him warning after warning, but he didn't listen. It was me... I ordered the hit on Hendrix, but I didn't think the fool would kill our children. If you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at me. I'm sorry."
"At least you didn't lie to my face about the whole thing. I'm pissed but not at you or Sevyn. I should be because it was you who ordered the hit and he who hid the whole f*****g thing from me. I'm pissed at Hendrix. He didn't need to borrow money from anyone; he took everything I had and married a woman who was loaded. All of this is on him; our children are dead because of his dumb ass decisions. Yet, he was the reason all of this happened.
"You did what you were supposed to do in your shoes. It wasn't like you told him to kill his family; he did that all on his own. I like your brother; he's different from what I know, but he has to be taught. He needs to learn that when you are in a relationship, there are no secrets."
"Secrets cause problems. Trust me, I learned that the hard way, but I'm still learning myself. We are mafia men, which means we think we know everything, but in reality, we are nothing without our women. I'll talk to my big brother, then I'll send him across the hall to apologize."
