Becca had a big ass mouth, and I wanted to do nothing but find her and knock the f**k out of her ass. Instead, my little brother saved my butt by telling Asia he was the one behind it all, but he shouldn't have had to lie for me. She was right; I should have told her the truth from the beginning, but I didn't know how. As I said, I was new to this relationship s**t, but I was learning by the day. We were hours away from the gala, and once again, I had pissed Asia off about something that I didn't know I had done.
It was hard working with women and whatnot to do to pissed them off, but this time it wasn't even my fault. We were out doing a little last-minute shopping for her and getting her hair and nails done when a girl decided to flirt with me. I didn't do a thing but told her I was taken, and the b***h still gave me her phone, which I threw back in her face. Still, she was mad at me because I didn't make it clear the first time that she was my girlfriend.
I pointed at her when I said I was taken. It wasn't my fault that she didn't listen. I didn't want anyone but her, and I couldn't help that other women found me attractive. It was the same with her; I saw how men looked at her and her ass. If I were as sensitive as she is, I would have killed someone by now.
"Baby, we can't be arguing right now. The gala starts in two hours. Can you get ready, then continue to be mad at me tomorrow? Damn It! I didn't do anything; it wasn't my fault. She didn't listen when I said I was taken. What you want me to do? Tattoo Asia across my f*****g forehead."
"Stop being a f*****g asshole. I swear you men act as if you know nothing. All I'm hearing from you is that you didn't do anything wrong. You took her f*****g number besides telling her to f**k off." Again, I sighed, rubbing my hand down my face. I didn't take the woman's number; she left it on the table next to me, and I threw it away.
Asia saw all of that, but she still wanted to be a b***h about it. I didn't know what else to do besides walk over to her and pull her into a kiss. This was the second time we'd kissed, even though I was trying to take things slow, but she needed to know that she was the only woman for me. I didn't think of the consequences as I pushed her against the wall, feeling up between her legs when I thought about what I was doing, and quickly pulled away.
"Damn it... I want nobody but you. Baby, you're my ride or die chick Shorty. What more do you want me to do to prove that? Get on my knees and beg for your forgiveness? Buy you diamonds, a room full of roses?"
"No, I have trust issues. You have to know that. The last person I gave my heart to took it and crushed it in his fist, as if I were a piece of paper he could throw in the trash. He was the only man I gave myself to. The man of my dreams at the time, and now I'm trying to do this thing over again while protecting my heart. I have to know if I fall in love with you. You'll love me back the same."
I understood what she was saying. I never loved anyone but my family, but she was making me learn to love another. I cared deeply about Asia, which was weird since we only knew each other for a few months, but six months made a big impression. She made me feel things that I never felt before. I was falling hard for the woman standing before me, and I hoped that she felt the same way I did.
"I will, I'm not him and will never be. Hendrix didn't understand your value as I do. She was the one who didn't want to listen to what I had to say. I didn't even look at her number because it didn't matter to me since you are the only woman I see. No other, I want you as my Shorty, no one else."
"Then you have to make me believe it..."
"You're beautiful, by the way. That dress makes me want to do things." I spoke, pulling her in, to kiss her neck as she moaned. I could feel my arousal, so I pulled away, kissing her one last time before I left. If I stayed any longer, her dress would have been on the floor, and we would have been doing something that I said I would wait for. Plus, we had somewhere to be. Somewhere that I didn't want to be, but it was my family's annual charity gala, which I knew wasn't going to be pleasant. Some of my flings were going to be there, and I didn't know how they were going to react to seeing me.
I had come a long way after them, and I had become the man some of them wanted me to be. Plus, I wouldn't call them flings because I only f****d them maybe one or two times before throwing them to the curve. I wanted everyone to know that I had changed, and the beautiful woman on my arm helped me do it. She wore a sexy red dress that matched my black suit, but everything about her made me feel like a better man as we walked into the building.
She was scared as she clung to me, looking around the room at all the rich, snobby assholes. I was staring hard, but all I did was pat her shoulder to let her know that we were okay as we made our way over to my grandfather and Margret, who were staring at me as if she wanted to kill me. It wasn't my fault that I knew the truth that she was trying so hard to hide. However, I wore a smile as my grandfather returned, waving us over.
"My God, aren't you beautiful tonight, Asia. My grandson picked the perfect woman. Elegant, beautiful, and smart, that is the type of woman I think all my grandsons should be with. Or a smart, elegant man for Kiran and Destiny. Do you know anything about the man he brought here tonight?"
"Kiran is always quiet about his relationships, but I think he's been dating. Quin has been with the same girl for over two years now, and Destiny is doing her. She's wrapped up in schoolwork, but I know there's a boy she's not talking about to me." I smirked because I always kept my eyes on my siblings. I knew what they were doing even when they thought they were being sneaky about it, although I couldn't stand here and talk about their lives when I had to take my father's place tonight, walking around greeting these stupid people, and I wasn't leaving Asia alone. So, I pulled her away from my grandfather's conversation.
"That was rude."
"It was, but I don't trust Margret at the moment. So, you are better off with me. Ah, Mrs. Johnson, it's nice to see you here again this year. Let me guess, you donated to the children's hospital again, or was it to the schools?" I smiled as she turned to me, with a big smile on her face, before she noticed Asia, and it grew even bigger.
"I donated to both. Who is your date tonight? She's stunning…. A girlfriend I hope. It is about time you settled down. It would make your Mother proud if she were still here with us. I miss my best friend."
"We both miss her, but she picked her fate. Before you ask again, Asia, this is Dorothy Johnson, a longtime family friend. Here is your answer. Yes, she is my girlfriend, the one I'm going to settle down with. I'm glad you are here, but we have to finish our rounds before my speech." I said as we left to finish my rounds after we walked around to the other tables before I had to leave her to go up on the stage.

Being here seemed weird. There were so many people here, some of whom were politicians, mayors of other cities, and more. It was surprising to see them, knowing that Sevyn's family was a mafia, and it seemed like they knew. Now he was up on stage, thanking them for coming and for donating. When another thought came to mind…if they were here it told me they were affiliated. It made sense now how they got overlooked on everything they did.
"You know who he is, don't you?"
"If I didn't, I wouldn't be here. Oh, that's not what you were talking about. Don't worry about Sevyn and me, it's not a one-time thing. We've been dating over the last few months, and we haven't even had s*x yet. Surprising right. Oh, wait, he f****d you and dropped you like the trash you are."
"b***h You Don't Know Me!" She yelled as I looked at her, like the rest of the people who were sitting around us. She was the one who came over to me and sat. I didn't ask her to be here, trying to talk mess about Sevyn because she was mad that he didn't want her, or the fact that he had s*x with her. It wasn't my fault that he didn't call her back.
"I don't have to know you to know that you're a jealous b***h. Let me revise that. You're not jealous or a b***h. You're mad because you're someone of his status, and I'm someone who knows nothing about this life. I wasn't born into money, but I worked hard to get where I am. Sevyn and I understand each other and I like him not for who or what he is."
"Sevyn is a w***e. He will never be a one-woman man. He needs a bride and picked you to make you think that he's a changed man, but you'll soon see he's no different." I nodded since she didn't know the man whom I had been getting to know over the last few months. I didn't know the man he was before me, but I was sure that he wasn't the same man that she knew.
"You liked him, but he didn't see you as the woman that you wanted him to see you as. I understand, but I want to give you some advice. When you're into a man, don't jump into bed with him the same night you meet him, no matter how long you known each other. Make them work for it and understand your value. I've been in your shoes. I married a man because he got me pregnant, and against my Mom's wishes, I married him. We all see the things that we want but not what's in front of our faces."
"You're trying to tell me that you changed Sevyn. Girl that p***y must be good as f**k. By the way I’m Raelynn Holland and you are?"
"Asia Roberts," I spoke as the girl held out her hand for me to shake. I felt like she was messing with me to see if I actually knew Sevyn and still liked him. I, on the other hand, felt that was true, but I also felt that she had slept with him at some point in time, or she was related. Either way, she was talking off my head while I was trying my best to listen to Sevyn speech, which was good. He was talking about the charities and how he plans to make a new foundation for the homeless and animal shelters, for some reason or another.
