The Beach

2016 Words
I had a ball at the gala last night, but I didn't think champagne could get me as drunk as it did. I only had three glasses, and the next thing I knew, I could barely stand. It was funny to Raelynn, who seemed to be drunk herself, but it didn't help that Sevyn's cousin Kia came over, talking s**t about her cousins and everyone in the place. She was loud, and everyone was looking at us like we were crazy, but it was funny as hell. Then Jennifer showed up alone, since her family wasn't welcome there because they were enemies. The four of us were lucky we didn't get thrown out, but now I had this horrible headache while Princess and Bandit were running about the apartment as if they had lost their damn minds. It caused me to rise out of bed like the living dead when I noticed that I was naked and Jennifer was lying in the bed with me, naked as well. I didn't even remember her coming home with me, but why in the f**k were we naked? "Oh no, no, no, no, no. Jennifer, get your white ass up bitch." "My f*****g head, pass me the Tylenol, Beck...." "Jennifer!" I yelled as she quickly jumped up, looking around the room, confused, until she looked over at me, then herself. "b***h Why Am I In Your Apartment? And Where Are Your f*****g Clothes? Oh f**k! We didn't do it, did we? I mean, I didn't even know you went that way." "I don't. Damn! Here, put on this. I need to think about what just happened here. This has to be a f*****g joke. You're married, and I'm in a relationship with Sevyn. You need to leave." I said, running into the bathroom, shutting the door, and sliding down it, holding my head. I was trying to think about what led up to this point and how it happened. Why would Sevyn allow Jennifer to bring me home if the two of us were drunk? Or did he tell his driver to take us home, and we ended up in the same spot? Better yet, why did I leave without him? There was so much running through my head that it hurt more, so I gave up and took a shower. By the time I was done, Jennifer was gone, but she left a letter apologizing for whatever happened last night and asking me to keep it between the two of us. That was easier said than done because things were about to become weird between us at work. However, I quickly let the animals out so they could do whatever they needed to, then left for Sevyn's home, hoping I wouldn't catch him with another woman as I rang the bell, waiting for him to answer. Instead, it was his little sister. "Hey Des, where's your brother?" "I don't understand why you are ringing the bell when you have a key, and Sev is in his office working on the profits from last night. You know where it's at. Peace and love to you, Sia." I loved that little girl and all of her silliness as she ran back off to her room. After I made my way down to his office. Sevyn was in work mode, which was sexy to see, and he didn't even notice that I had walked in until I sat in front of his desk. "Hey, baby, you look so sexy when you're working, but you look stressed. Do you want me to come over and relieve some of it?" "Funny and hello to you, Shorty. Why do you look like that? Like you've been up to no good..." "How did I get home last night?" I asked as he stopped typing, looking up at me with a c****d brow as if I should have known it. I didn't remember anything after talking to Jennifer, Kia, and Realynn. I drank like two glasses of champagne, and the next thing I knew, I woke naked in bed with Jennifer. "I took you home. You got drunk off four glasses of champagne. I should have warned you about that. We don't drink that cheap s**t. I had to carry you into your room and undress you." "Then how did Jennifer end up in my apartment? This stays between you and me, and please don't see this the wrong way, but we woke up in my bed naked. I thought it was you lying next to me until I got the surprise of a lifetime." He laughed as I stared at him like he was crazy. I woke naked in bed with another female, and he thought it was funny. Nothing about it was funny to me, but he found it that way. "I don't know how Jennifer ended up in your apartment, but you were naked when I left, you were still wearing your underwear, and trust me, you and Jen didn't do anything. You're not the first person who has woken up in the bed naked with her. She lives in the same building as you, and you gave her a key to your place. Between you, her, Realynn, and Kia, all of you were drunk, and she ended up in your apartment." "What if that wasn't the issue? What if we...." "Do you have feelings for Jen?" "No!" I said as he shrugged and looked back at the computer. I was sure he was about to get mad. Instead, he typed something in with a deep sigh before shutting his laptop. "Then we have nothing to worry about. Jennifer loves Becca, and she would never do anything to hurt her, drunk or not... when you say that the two of you were naked. How naked are we talking about?" I sat there, thinking about his words, when I realized Jennifer was the only one completely unclothe. I still had on my bra and panties while she was naked as a jaybird. There was no way we did anything, which made me breathe. Still, I wanted to know why she came to my apartment when hers was the door before mine. Was she that drunk that she didn't know where she was going? Plus, she made it seem like we had done something by saying never to mention it to anyone. "She was completely unclothe, but I was still in my underwear. Still, I don't know how I feel about that. I mean, you removed my clothes, which means you have seen my body, and I haven't seen anything on you." "You're funny, but if you want, I can show you a little something to make your mind wander." He smiled as he stood and took off his shirt, running his hands down his torso and along the side of his leg. He was teasing by letting me see the length of his package. "Now who's playing dirty? That wasn't fair, and you know it... Anyway, what are we doing today? Or are you going to be working on that the entire day? It's a Sunday, and work should be put off until tomorrow." "Tell me what you want to do? When I pick something, you never like it, but there are things that you need to know before becoming my wife." I knew all of that, but I didn't want our dates to be about things I needed to learn. That was something he did on days when he was actually doing it himself, or throughout the week. The weekends were supposed to be our date nights, and that's what I wanted them to be about. "Lunch for sure, maybe we should take a trip to the beach to look for seashells." "The beach, that's two and a half hours away...." "And it's 10:30, we'll be there by 12:30-1:00. We can have lunch there and take a walk on the beach while I look for sand dollars and other seashells for my collections," I spoke as he stood there thinking about what I said. In the end, we rode out to the beach even though Sevyn didn't want to. His little sister and I talked him into it, and now we were on the beach, sitting as she played in the water. "Destiny doesn't like a lot of people, but she seems to like you a lot. Maybe if there was another girl around her age it would be better, but she doesn't have anyone to call a friend. Most are scared of her because of our family, and others are jealous. It doesn't make it better that she's a loner." "I understand her. Have you ever thought that the problem is her? Not to say that something is wrong with her, but the fact that she doesn't trust well. It could be others don't understand her, or it could be her big brothers who scare others away." I said while Sevyn sat there, watching his little sister talk to another girl on the shoreline. Here, no one really knew them by name, which made it easy to talk to others. "She has a boyfriend, and I don't know how to feel about that. She's sixteen, and I don't think that I like it. Des is more like my child at times than my little sister. She was the reason I stayed at home as long as I did. I should have been in my own place long ago, but the way our parents fought, I couldn't leave her there by herself." "At least you have siblings to protect. I was an only child, and my parents warned me about Hendrix. I didn't listen and married him a year later. I lost both of them back-to-back. My Dad died of a heart attack, and six months later, my Mom had a stroke. She died two months after my grandparents turned their backs on me, and Hendrix's family hated me. Surprisingly, they hadn't reached out, blaming his death on me." They blamed his death on me. I didn't tell Sevyn that part. The assholes have been calling me for the past three months, saying it was my fault their son was dead when we hadn't been together for a whole year. It was funny to learn that he didn't even tell his parents we had gotten divorced, but they didn't care; they still blamed me. It was okay because, either way, I was in control of my life, and I was with someone who respected me for who I was. "I wouldn't worry about them, Shorty. They don't know you like I do... how sweet a person you are. You're loving and caring, and you rose from the darkness he put you in. Even if they were blaming you, it's only their bitterness that keeps them from seeing the truth. I thought you wanted to look for seashells?" He said, changing the subject. It was a good thing because I was starting to get upset about the situation. Instead, the two of us begin to walk down the beach looking for seashells as we made small talk about my job and other things. He loved to talk about his day and the things that are expected of me once I become his wife. We also discussed kids, which was a hard subject, knowing that I had lost my three babies. I was always told things happened for a reason, but I questioned how three babies lost their lives for something their dad did. "You talk about kids a lot, and I don't know about having more. It's expected of me, I know, but what are we going to do to protect them from harm? I don't want to lose another child." "Everything. I will do everything in my power to protect you, her, and everyone else in my family. You and our child will be the first on my list. We will never bring our work home. What happens out here should never follow us home, and if it does, we will handle it."
