“You will let us know if you need anything, right?” Mom says, stopping in front of me, while Dad soon follows after, and I tell her I’m sure I won’t need anything. It’s 3:30 a.m., and we have decided to try and get some sleep, even though I doubt any of us will sleep.
Mom asks me again if I’m sure I like the room before saying she will take me on a tour of the house in the morning, and I can choose another room if I don’t like this one. But I cut her off and hug her. “This room is perfect,” I tell her in the hug, and we linger for a bit before pulling back. My dad and I share a hug, and I bid them goodnight, even though it’s morning already.
They leave, and I head to the bathroom to take a shower, feeling like I need one to relax so I can try and sleep
