I enter my father’s office to find him engrossed in his computer, his brow furrowed as he stares at the screen. He looks up, gesturing for me to come closer, and offers me a seat that I take.
He thanks me for my time and begins what he called me in for. My father is okay with me taking some time off but he also wants to know what my long-term goals are—whether this is it and I’m retiring or if I plan on going back to work.
He says if I want to return to my dancing career, that’s okay too. He’s careful not to make me feel pressured, and I appreciate that. But I’m ready to go back to work and I want to resume the type of work I was doing if it’s possible.
