Chapter 9Ani drove off with Christine and he walked back up the lawn toward New Beginnings, feeling good for the first time in a long while. He looked up at Elisa’s window to see her staring down at him. He continued his walk up to the entrance and into the building where he swiped his day-pass card that buzzed him back in. Elisa had been giving him the creeps lately. Every time he looked, she was there watching him, and not just watching... the expression on her face was cold and the look in her eyes was wicked and scornful. He climbed the stairs, passing two other residents on his way up and returning their greetings.
