Finally, and after what seemed to be a foolishly long time, a patrol car was sent out to the Keller house around 8 p.m. to check out Francine and Ani’s story. Francine followed behind knowing in her heart that Ani really had witnessed a violent beating and that Cameron was in danger. Having reached their destination, the constable knocked on the Keller’s screen door but received no response. The heavy wooden front door that had been slammed in Francine’s face earlier now stood open. The constable rapped again, this time calling into the house: “Hello? Anybody home? Jared Keller, this is the RCMP. Come to the door please, sir, I need to have a few words with you.” There was still no answer, and the constable knocked one more time.
