Chapter 6Christine stared at Jamie in complete shock. As hard as she tried to keep her feelings solidly in check, they simply crumbled like a stale biscuit; she didn’t know what to believe. She had wanted to be Jamie’s girlfriend for a year now but he had been too infatuated with Ani to even give her a second look. It was true that Ani was her best friend — had been ever since grade four — but she had always envied Ani’s innate ability to attract all the boys. It pissed her off, especially since Ani never seemed to notice that they all chased after her, and she didn’t want any of them anyway. Chris always came second in line, and sometimes it seemed like the boys would only go out with her because she hung around with Ani Sauvé.
