Everyone was enjoying the holiday season. Everybody was excited to be opening up their gifts. As it is Christmas morning today. We all took our turns opening our gifts. We each got a very special gift. We all found out that we would be going on a family vacation together not long after the New Year. We were all excited about going. All but one person: my husband. He decided that after opening the gift. He didn't want to go as he had been to the Caribbean before. I looked at him horrified and said WHAT? Why would you not want to go? It's already paid for. He said, "I just do not want to go." All I could say was, "Oh." The whole house was silent as this whole thing was playing out before my eyes. I was so shocked and hurt. Why wouldn't he want to be with us, me on this amazing opportunity? I felt like crying then and there. We have never done anything like this together. I have always wanted to go on a family trip like this. It is a dream come true for me. I don't know how he doesn't see it. Thinking maybe he is afraid he won't be able to get the time off he wants. I know he will be able to get the time off because he rarely asks for time off for stuff like that or anything like that. I'm disappointed in the one person who I wanted to share it with. He doesn't want to go on this trip because of whatever internal battle he is having with himself. Never thought it would hurt so much to have him decide not to go with us. I am really excited about going on this vacation. I have never been on a plan before. I am very nervous about going on the plane. It's going to be a 4-hour flight. Yikes!
Now it's time to backtrack a little bit. I'm Maddison. Maddi for short. I am 35 years old. I have auburn hair. My eyes are green. With a pale skin tone that burns first before it tans, to a nice shade of brown. I am about 5 feet 5 inches tall. I am about 180 pounds. On the very curvy side. My husband's name is Hunter. He has short brown hair, long enough to put your fingers through it and grab the ends of it. He has hazel eyes. He is about 5 feet 8 inches. A couple of inches taller than me. He is 150 pounds. It fits him perfectly. He isn't athletic but isn't overly muscular, just enough in the right places. He has an olive complexion that tans very nicely in the sun. We have been married for 10 years now. It's been a lovely marriage. We got together in our mid to late 20's. We had a lot of fun in that time with local adventures to places we discovered that we enjoyed. Sometimes we went back, sometimes we would go to new places. We would also have a picnic. Even rent a campsite, whether it be one day or a few nights. We also enjoy a movie night at home most weekends. Once a month, we have a few friends come over to hang out and play games. We will have a barbecue when the weather is nice or have pot luck for dinner. The odd time we will order take out. It is amazing to say how quickly time flew by. In the 10 years that we have been together, we have a beautiful daughter.
Her name is Alina. She has green eyes. Her hair is very long and wavy, with ringlet-like curls almost. The color of her hair is red. She is 7 years old. She has an olive skin tone like her dad. She looks a lot like her mom with hints of her dad. In the Forehead and Cheeks. She is on the slim side. She is very smart and gets good grades in school. She has a couple of friends. She is very excited about going on this trip. She is also nervous about the plane ride as she has never been on one before. Just like her mom. She is also disappointed that her dad doesn't want to come on this trip. She is happy that her uncle is coming with her, who is 2 years older than her. So she will have someone to hang out with that is around her age.
The rest of Christmas went without any hitches. The dinner was amazing. Everyone loved it. We cook a turkey and my older younger brother cooks a ham. I stay up most of the night cooking the turkey. If the oven is needed for other things. The oven is available. Like biscuits, cookies or breakfast croissants. All the vegetables are prepared first thing in the morning. They are sitting on the stove in water. To be turned on closer to the time we have dinner.
