With everything prepared, it gives me time to hang out with the family. To play cards or board games. Usually we play a couple rounds of Euchre. Leftovers are taken home. Some is saved for us to have sandwiches or a meal the next day. Along with some bones and meat to make soup the next day. Which turns out very yummy. It's the end of the night now and everyone has gone home. I am finally sitting down with my feet up, reading one of the new books. I got it for Christmas. It a paranormal romance.
I look over at Hunter and I say, "Are you sure you don't want to come on this trip? " "It could be amazing." Hunter looks me in the eyes and says "I'm sure!" I look at him with such hurt and disappointment. He just shrugs and goes back to whatever he was doing. With his stuff he got for Christmas. I go back to reading while thinking about what is going on with him. Can I do anything to change his mind? No, don't think so. He is very stubborn. It's very hard to change his mind once it is already set. We leave in 20 days. Time is going to fly by fast. I can try to change his mind. I don't know if it will work.
As the next few days passed, I began to get stuff ready for Alina and I to go on this trip. I make a list of all the things that need to be packed so we don't forget anything. As it is expensive to get in the Caribbean. Since most of their stuff has to be imported in, if it is not made there. I need to get and use a bunch of giant freezer bags to prevent the shampoo bottles, lotions and other liquids from spilling all over the clothes and other stuff in the luggage. It helps keep it somewhat organized as well. I will also be bringing a bunch of hangers to hang our clothes. Heard you don't get very many hangers in the rooms. Can't forget the swimsuits. I assume we will be spending alot of time in the water and in the sun. It will be a nice change from all this cold weather we have been having.
For the last 6 months roughly Hunter has been coming home from work grumpy and miserable. When I ask him if there is anything I can do about it, he says "No", and walks away. I wish there was something I could do to cheer him up. I had hoped that he would come on this trip with us to have some time away from work. To enjoy the sun and water, have a good time as a family. "Hunter, you know the trip is getting closer. " This will probably be the last chance you have to book time off before the trip," I say. "That may be, but I am still not changing my mind. " I don't want to go." I sigh! Almost ready to cry. He doesn't understand how hurt I am by him not wanting to come with us. Like what's wrong? What did I do that made him not want to go with us? I sit there and think about what I did and nothing comes to mind. Ugh!!! This is driving me crazy a free trip for him, and he doesn't want to take it. I just shook my head and walked away.
Tomorrow I need to go to the bank to talk some money out of the account. Get it broken down to a bunch of little bills for tipping and a few bigger bills for buying souvenirs. There are just a few more things I need to grab from the list. It will only be last-minute items on the day of the flight. I went into Alina's room to where she has her luggage sitting on the floor. I look through it to make sure she has everything she will need for the trip. I am adding a couple of items that she will need while I am out tomorrow. I help her organize the luggage so she has room for her last-minute items. I also checked her carry-on back that she would be bringing on the flight. Making sure she has enough things to keep her entertained on a 4-hour flight. Like a deck of cards, word search, a coloring activity book, a couple of books. Her tablet with downloaded movies encase the flight doesn't have TVs. Now all that is checked and ready to go until the morning of the flight.
I sat down beside Hunter on the couch as we usually do most evenings. Hunter had decided to play one of his video games. He has been trying to level or something similar to that in his game. After he is done playing his games. We watch a movie or a show until he is ready to go to bed for work the next day. I stay up later than Hunter. I make sure Alina goes to bed at a decent time, as she goes to school. After everyone goes to bed, I read for half an hour to an hour. Before I go to bed for the night, it helps to relax me.
