The next morning, Sarah woke up early, excited for her first day of orientation at the University of Singapore. She showered, dressed in a stylish outfit, and grabbed her backpack, eager to explore the campus and meet new people. As she left her apartment, she inhaled the fresh morning air, feeling alive and invigorated. Upon arriving at the university, Sarah joined a group of students attending the orientation session. The auditorium was crowded with enthusiastic young women and men, all eager to immerse themselves in the academic and cultural offerings of Singapore. The orientation leader introduced a panel of staff members responsible for various aspects of student life, ranging from academics to social activities. Sarah listened intently, scribbling notes in her composition book, eager to absorb all the information available. Sarah scanned the room, her gaze lingering on the diverse faces of her peers. She noticed a group of students clustered together, their attention focused on a bespectacled woman who appeared to be their group leader. "Ladies and gentlemen," the woman began, her voice booming through the speakers, "welcome to the University of Singapore. My name is Professor Tan, and I will be your guide throughout this enriching exchange program." Professor Tan gestured towards a PowerPoint presentation projected onto a large screen, which detailed the various courses and extracurricular activities available to the students. Sarah listened intently, her eyes darting between the slides and the professor's animated explanations. "As you know, this exchange program is designed to encourage cultural exchange and understanding between our two countries," Professor Tan explained. "Over the course of the semester, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of social events organized by the university. These events range from formal dinners to casual gatherings, offering you ample opportunities to interact with both locals and other international students." Sarah scribbled notes on her pad, her eyes darting between the slides and the profressor's animated explanations. She couldn't help but feel a growing excitement as she listened to the possibilities that lay ahead. After several hours of presentations and discussions, the orientation session came to an end. Sarah took a deep breath, feeling exhausted yet invigorated by the wealth of information she had absorbed. Among the myriad of topics covered, she particularly enjoyed learning about the rich history and culture of Singapore and its neighboring countries. As she gathered her belongings, she caught sight of the group of students she had noticed earlier. Intrigued, she approached them, hoping to strike up a conversation. "Hi there," Sarah greeted the group, smiling warmly. "My name is Sarah, and I'm from Texas. Nice to meet ya'll!" She said in her distinct southern accent. The group exchanged friendly smiles, their curiosity piqued by Sarah's presence. Hello, Sarah," a petite Chinese girl with long, silky black hair introduced herself. "I'm Yi Ling, and I'm a local student in my second year. This is my friend Alvin." "Nice to meet you, Yi Ling and Alvin," Sarah replied, extending her hand. "I'm really excited to explore this beautiful country and learn more about its culture. Would you mind showing me around the campus?" Mei's eyes sparkled with glee. "Of course! I'd be happy to show you around. We can start with the main library, and then visit the cafeteria for lunch, but Alvin has to rush off to class so it'll be just us." Sarah eagerly agreed, and the two young women set off to explore the vast university grounds. As they walked, Yi Ling pointed out various landmarks and shared stories about her experiences at the University of Singapore. Sarah listened attentively, her interest piqued by the tales of exotic adventures and unique cultural experiences. As they traversed the sprawling campus, she couldn't help but admire the breathtaking landscape, lush greenery, and state of the art facilities. "Wow," Sarah said, her eyes widening in awe. "This place is incredible. I can see myself spending a lot of time here." "I'm glad you enjoy it," Yi Ling replied, smiling broadly. "There's so much to discover here, even if you've studied at UNS for two years." "I'd imagine so. this place is better than anything I've ever seen back in my part of the states" Sarah added, taking a bite of her chicken rice. "Really? I've never been anywhere else outside Asia but I heard a lot of stories about different places," Yi Ling chimed in. "What part of the States are you from again?" "I'm from a small town near Austin, Texas." Sarah answered, putting down her fork. "We're mostly white folks there. No offense, but we're quite sheltered from other cultures. That's why I'm super excited to be here." "Oh, I see. So tell me, Sarah," Yi Ling asked curiously, "why did you choose to come study in Singapore? Is it purely because of the culture and diversity, or was there something else?" Sarah hesitated briefly, glancing around the bustling cafeteria before replying. "Well, truth be told, I was fascinated by the idea of experiencing a totally different environment," she admitted quietly. "I've always been drawn to the unknown, to trying new things. I guess you could say it's my adventurous spirit," Sarah confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "But beyond that, there's something else that fascinates me about Singapore." Yi Ling leaned forward, her eyes shining with curiosity. "Go on," she urged. "Share your thoughts with me." Sarah took a deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest. "Okay," she murmured, her voice trembling slightly. "I'll confess something rather embarrassing. Ever since I was little, I've had these fantasies about South Asian men. I can't explain why, but something about their darker complexion, their exotic features, and their confident demeanor turned me on. It started as fleeting thoughts, but as I grew older, those fantasies became more intense. When I learned about the study abroad program, I knew it was my chance to live out my deepest desires." Yi Ling's eyes widened with surprise, her face flushing red. "Oh my goodness, Sarah," she gasped, covering her mouth with her hand. "I didn't expect you to say that. I mean, to be honest, among us Chinese people, our older generations tend to have very bad generalizations of Indians and other South Asians. So hearing about a white girl having s****l fantasies about them is quite surprising, especially considering the stereotypes." "Yeah, I understand that," Sarah acknowledged, wincing slightly. "I guess I've always been attracted to the mysterious and unconventional. But hey, don't worry, I won't judge or stereotype anyone based on these fantasies. I'm genuinely interested in learning more about the people and culture here." "That's great, Sarah," Yi Ling assured her, flashing a warm smile. "And I promise to help you navigate through any awkward situations, should they arise. I'll let you in on an open secret about our campus - while we may be great students, our campus has quite the reputation for easy hook-ups too." Yi Ling chuckled mischievously, adding fuel to Sarah's growing anticipation.
