Chapter SixLavina awoke with a start and thought somebody was calling her.
It was dark outside, but the feeling she was wanted was insistent.
She thought she must be dreaming and settled down again against her pillows.
But the call was still there, so strong, that she realised what it was.
She could see, like a picture in front of her eyes in the darkness, the Emerald Buddha.
It seemed to be vibrating towards her, calling her, telling her something of importance.
She tried to concentrate.
Then she understood - the Emerald Buddha was calling the Marquis and it was important.
It was almost as if it spoke with a clear voice telling her that the Marquis was wanted.
