Of all the shitty things I have to do as Alpha, having to tell parents that their child is dead has to be the worst. I’m standing there stoically with Liam and Garrett, as Erin and David O’Malley say goodbye to their child for the last time. I can’t help thinking over all of the events leading up to this moment and wondering what I could have done to prevent this. Unfortunately, I come up empty.
Mrs. O’Malley has been sobbing uncontrollably for the last twenty minutes. I wish there was something I could do to console her, but I know there’s not. Mr. O’Malley has been quiet and somber, but I can see the tears in his eyes. I let them take their time, as the three of us stay out of their way.
Finally Mr. O’Malley stands up and looks at me. “Alpha, are we able to see Bennett now?
