Chapter 10

1145 Words
***Buster*** To see my sister again is pretty amazing. I remember playing with her before I could even walk. She was the one who took care of me when I was a pup. I hen mother sent her to boarding school Bo filled in for her. When she would come home on breaks she would spend every moment with me. We’d play hide and seek, she’d bake for me and we’d have movie nights. The last time she was home Mother had threatened her life. Mother was obsessed with the amount of strength and power Becca has. She was always pushing Becca in the wrong direction trying to anger her or make her slip and do something wrong. It was probably for the best she was able to get away when she did who knows what mother would have done to her. Regardless of everything Becca had been through she was still kind. “Hey bub” as Bo ruffled my hair a bit and hugged me. He looked me in the eyes and then smiled realizing my joy being with Becca. Bo walked over and greeted our family. He’s a good Alpha, always kind, brave, and willing to step in when needed. “Hey Jake can you keep an eye on the pups? I need to talk to aunt Becca, Buster, and Will.” Bo asks his oldest son. “Sure pop but this secret candy may not make it until you get back.” Bo’s response was a gentle commend, “2 pieces each guys, max”. We follow Bo outside and walk just outside the barrier. ***Becca*** As we stood there we could all feel the anger radiating off Bo the silence was broken when Buster asks, “is she back, is it mother?” We all turn to look at Buster the back to Bo. “What’s the plan?” Will asked. She said she was coming home. The witches she was with said they came to collect a sacrifice. Without hesitation I begin running to the place she was being held as I approached I smelled the sickening scent of maple. She smiles as she sees me approaching. I increase my speed knowing she is within my grasp. I hear her say to the witches, “I told you she’d come to save her mother”. The smile that had spread across her face quickly dissolved when I shifted into my wolf. In my wolf I was nearly invincible our grand mother was a witch. Only the females could carry the witch genes so any of grandmother’s female descendants would obtain special gifts. As I reached the cave I charged inside Will hot on my trail. I spread my protection to him. Mother had already shifted. She backed into the deepest part of the cage hoping to hide in its darkness. As each witch approached I tore out their throats with my wolfs powerful jaws. I hadn’t hunted in years and my wolf had wanted this particular hunt far too long. The scent of maple burned in my nostrils. I could hear Will tearing those witches to shreds behind me. I feel the air shift as she lunges towards me before I could turn to counter her blow my brother had lunged towards her. I growled at them both as she laid on the ground. Bo backed away knowing this kill was mine. She scrambled to her feet and ran towards me I caught her by her throat and shook her vigorously not quite clamping down with full force. I wanted her to suffer a little before I killed her. I threw her against the wall of the cave hoping to break some bones. I began sauntering towards her when a wolf jumps in front of me and rips out her throat. The wolf immediately shifts into its human. I realize it was Buster and go to him and lick his face realizing the impact this must have on him. Relief washes over us knowing she can not do harm to our family any longer. I nudge Buster he looks at me with tear filled eyes, “we don’t have to worry anymore” I nuzzle Buster and he stands and shifts into his wolf. Will burned the inside of the cave with the bodies inside. Will went back to check on the children. My brothers and I sat by the cave entrance in our wolf forms in silence waiting for the smoke to clear. We had to know she couldn’t hurt us ever again. We returned to the cottage to Sarah making dinner. I snuck in the back door to shower. As I stood there allowing the water to wash my pain away I screamed and cried my pain. I heard footsteps and smelled the beautiful rose smell. Bell sits by the shower door, “momma are you ok? I heard you crying”. “Yes baby, momma will be ok” I answered. “Momma are you sad your mother died?” I smelled Will’s scent before I heard his footsteps. The door opens and I hear Will sit next to Bell. “Are you ok kid” he asks Bell. “Yeah, I’m ok but my mommas sad because her momma died today. Her momma wasn’t nice to her”. I cried silently listening to their conversation. “I know Bell Your momma will be ok. Sometimes even when someone was mean to us it still makes our hearts sad when they are not here anymore.” I peaked though the door and saw Bell hug him then run to her cousins. Will opened the shower door and climes in with me. Him still clothed I turned to him and he held me close as I cried. When I couldn’t cry anymore we got out of the shower. Will got dressed as did I. We walked into the living room to find Sarah sitting with Billy asleep in her arms and Buster to her right with his head resting in her lap. “Hey sister” both Sarah and Buster say in unison. “Sorry Becca, I couldn’t let you live with killing someone” Sarah moves over and I take her spot running my fingers through his long thick black hair. Trying to comfort him. “Are you ok Buster?” I ask him. “Yeah, I didn’t really know her so it feels more like I just eliminated a threat to the pack.” Will looks from Sarah to me “you have no idea how true that is Bud if you need to talk about it though we’re here for you”. “Thanks guys, I think I just want to go home though.” I turn to him and get up, “alright, I’ll walk you”.
