The Alpha Who Loved Her

Chapter 2

***Becca***

My eyes closed waiting for the impact from the wolf pushing me to the ground. I braced myself knowing it would come any moment. Suddenly I felt moisture and hot breath as his wolf licked my cheek. He then stood there as though he was grinning at me. Sarah laughed at the large wolf, “I told you not to tease her, she’s scared to death thinking you or some else after her and her pup”. Sarah lovingly placed her hand on the wolfs head petting him gently while I retreated to the house. I shifted back to my human form and quickly putting my robe on. I checked on Bell who was still sound asleep. “Shmelly stay and watch your girl”. She immediately jumped on the bed and cuddled near Bell.

As I ran back outside I hear, “Hi sister”. I continued walking toward my twin brother tears flowing down my cheeks, my smile unwavering I reply, “hey beautiful”. As we hugged he whispered in my ear, “we’ve missed you. When Sarah told me you were near I knew where you were headed.”

Bo then turned and looked at Sarah and grasped her hand in his. He looked at her in a way only a mate could, I was happy for them. They were two of the kindest wolfs I had known and deserved one another. I was hesitant to invite them in so we stayed outside just beyond the barrier I created a safe distance from my sleeping pup.

We talked into the early hours of the morning catching him up on my graduation from university and becoming a nurse. I was the lead nurse in a level 1 trauma center, because of my heightened senses I was able to pick up on illness quicker than others and I was able to assist in saving thousands of lives. To be completely honest I was doing most of the doctors work also. Bo asked about Bell and I told him the basics, “she’s 7 years old, her favorite color is purple, she’s smart as can be and her best friend is her pet.” Bo’s response took me by surprise, “that’s wonderful but does she know who we are? who I’d her father? When we’re we going to meet her?” After I gathered my thoughts I replied, “she knows a little about my healing powers as I occasionally will mix herbs to help strangers, but nothing else, not yet she’s too young”. I looked down at my hands and noticed I was tapping my feet, Bo noticed too. “I think it’s time for you two to go. I’m grateful I had this opportunity to catch up with you but I need to rest before Bell wakes up. Please go”. I turned to walk towards the cottage when I felt Sarah’s hand on my wrist “please let him meet our niece”. I thought for a moment, and set my boundaries. “Ok tomorrow on the beach at 1pm. No talking about wolfs, pups, or anything magical. Do you remember the password?” Bo nods, “yes” Sarah looks between us confused. “Good, if I use the password you figure out an excuse to leave, got it?” They answer “yes” in unison. I walk in the cottages kitchen door and turn round the corner to find Shmelly still with Bell. Shmelly lifts her head to me as if to ask if everything was ok. “Yes,Shmelly we’re safe. Watch over our girl.” I pat her head as I turn on my heels walking to my room and climb into bed. Welcoming sleep.

We hadn’t seen Becca for 12 years, and I’d do anything to keep her here. I stayed awake the rest of the night. I decided to patrol with the warriors but found my thoughts drifting to my family.

*We grew up in a large family. Our parents raising 9 pups. All adopted besides Becca and I. Our parents we so desperately wanted their own pups after the six oldest were adopted that they saw a witch who took away our parents mental blocks. She told them they would have twins one Luna, one Alpha. When mother would tell the story of our birth she’d say ,” it was the first day of clear sky in 14 days. The sun shined through the bedroom window and we knew they’d be special”. My sister was born 7 minutes before me and came out a*s first. Dad said he knew she’d be trouble but was excited to see what that trouble would be. We were inseparable.

Our older brothers were our very best friends. They would take us on runs through the forest as soon as we were able to walk. They taught us to swim in the river near our house. On our fifth birthday they surprised us with a tree house with a rope that led straight to our bedroom window. Oh the adventures we had. Two months after our fifth birthday mother left. We asked where she went and if she was coming back but Father never answered. He just became quite and distant. One year later while our oldest brother Brushton was training at our uncles pack he met his mate Genevieve who was also visiting. Genevieve was the next Luna of her pack so Brushton moved to live with her in her pack and be their Alpha. The next year the twins Brendan and Benny mated with a Luna further North and moved too. That same year Brayden and Bacai joined the military they said it couldn’t be any worse then putting up with Father. Mother returned around Christmas that year with her new pup Buster. Father was so happy to have his mate back that he walcomed the pup with open arms as well. Mother paid little attention to Becca. Mother would get upset saying Becca was to much like an Alpha and needed to learn to become a Luna. I remember the day mother sent her away to boarding school. I remember her mindlink to me, “Bo mothers making me leave come now”. I could hear the desperation in her plea even at 11 years I knew something wasn’t right. I ran back to our pack house my lungs burning with exhaustion as I watched the car drive away I chased it nearly 2 miles telling my sister by mindlink how much I loved her and I would find her. When I returned home I asked , no pleaded with Father to bring her back only to be met with silence.

The moisture on my face pulled me from my memories just as patrols changed. I went to my pack house to have breakfast with my family. Sarah and I returned to our room to discuss our plans for the afternoon. “Why don’t you get some rest before we go meet her?” Sarah asked. “That sounds like a good idea”. Sarah kissed me gently on my lips as I felt her shift my mood with her calming presence. I quickly showered and sleep overwhelmed me as instantly as my head hit the pillow.
