Chapter Six
NATHAN
Zeke is going into heat, this weekend. It’s… It makes being close to him dangerous. I don’t even know what else to say or feel right now.
Last weekend, with Wes, it was unexpected, but now we know what’s coming up.
It also means that we have to make a choice if I should even stay around. But, at the same time, I know that I won’t be able to leave their side, not with the way Zeke is looking.
He’s retreated into his head again, although, this time I can see that he has to do this. He’s thinking. Things are going through his head. He needs to come back to us on his own. He needs to return to us by his own strength.
We’re standing in the light of the setting sun. The weather is still warm, but I know that that will change soon.
