Chapter Two
NATHAN
I’m standing in the alley behind the cafe, just a little away from the back door. The guy who was helping Zeke today has already left, so I know that Zeke will come out soon too. I lean back against the wall, letting out a sigh.
This was a stupid idea. But I didn’t know what else to do. I had to talk to Zeke, and I knew that just going into the cafe would be a bad idea. I can’t face him there, not when there are so many people around us. So, I’m waiting for him to come out.
Which may or may not be a better idea, but we’ll see.
The back door of the cafe opens and Zeke steps outside, closing the door behind him before he looks up and sees me. His eyes go wide and he takes a step back.
