I had barely had enough time to calm my racing heart when I heard muffled sounds. Someone was shouting, and he sounded livid.
I knew who it was because it could only be one person.
So I left my room again and headed in the direction of the voice.
I was halfway through changing when I heard it.
A voice cut through the quiet like a blade.
I froze.
“Did I not make myself clear?”
My heart dropped.
I moved toward the door before I fully realized what I was doing, pulling it open just enough to hear more clearly. The sound carried easily, bouncing off polished walls and high ceilings.
The voice came again, louder this time.
