LILY I had barely had enough time to calm my racing heart when I heard muffled sounds. Someone was shouting, and he sounded livid. I knew who it was because it could only be one person. So I left my room again and headed in the direction of the voice. I was halfway through changing when I heard it. A voice cut through the quiet like a blade. I froze. “Did I not make myself clear?” My heart dropped. I moved toward the door before I fully realized what I was doing, pulling it open just enough to hear more clearly. The sound carried easily, bouncing off polished walls and high ceilings. The voice came again, louder this time. “I gave you explicit instructions.” Him.
