29 Higgs woke to find himself curled on the floor in front of a low fire. In his dreams darkness was enveloping him, holding him down, trapping him in its depths. He stretched slowly and stared dully at the licking flames, then instinctively shot his hand to his hip. The moonsteel sword was gone. ‘Looking for this?’ Higgs turned to see a thin pale figure sitting on the bed across from him, the blade twirling slowly in his fingertips. ‘It is very fine work. Moonsteel, is it not? I’ve never seen its like.’ He tossed the blade to Higgs, who caught it easily in mid-air and slid it quickly into the sheath on his hip. ‘You are Higgs? You’ve nothing to fear here, at least, not from me. I am Delco. A friend of Wilt’s, just as you are, I think.’ ‘Where is Wilt?’ ‘Ah.’ Delco smiled sadly. ‘
