A Trap

And then we were off to the 57th floor, as the door of the elevator opened and we moved outside of the elevator, we came across a large hall. There were desks and chairs arranged like in a school.

Hassan felt a bit comfortable and sat down on one of the chairs. After he sat, A screen suddenly popped out and the HGs on our neck beeped.

The Overseer said," I know you all feel comfortable here because it looks like a place you know. You might think this is classroom but no, it is not. This is the Detention Room and you can see that the room's quite huge. The thing you can't see is there are 5 door ways to another room in this same floor. But  on one of those doors I have kept a gift and will be an obstacle on your route ahead. It depends on your luck whether you get through it or not ".

Then the Overseer just beeped off. We didn't want to speak to him anymore because if we said anything harsh he just would kill us by exploding the HG like we had seen earlier.

Andrew asked James," The Overseer mentioned you helping him with the HG, So do you no how to take it off ? ".

James answered," I can try but he wouldn't like that and might kill you at that moment, So I can't risk it ".

We all understood what he meant because he didn't want to see us end up trapped inside here.

Andrew walked towards him and patted on his shoulder and said," You don't worry we all wouldn't abandoned anyone including you ".

James laughed for a while along with the others and then replied," I believe in you all but it is about to get worse in here ".

Then we all realised what he meant because the Overseer had told them about a gift. After that we all talked about different things but George and Hassan were still talking about how they enjoyed their life till now and now they are stuck in here.

Allan came to me and told," Sis, Why don't we this time go along with your friends ".

I was really happy when he mentioned that, So, I quickly agreed to that and told to Rebecca that we would go along with others this time. She did not say anything but went away a bit and then stopped and looked towards us and showed us a thumbs up and smile, as an expression of showing agreement.

Then when we went along with the others, Diana and Sarah came towards me and Allan and asked," Aren't you both going along with James and Rebecca ? ".

I replied," No, I and Allan felt it would be good if we came along with you all ".

Suddenly George came running towards me and hugged me and said," I missed you girl, I missed the times we both spent together ".

I replied," You know I was over here only right and we also meet often and you also say the story's... ".

When I was about to say of what George told me. He held onto my mouth and covered and said," Oh ! I forgot about that I am really sorry ".

Then Hassan asked," What stories was it about Alexa ? ".

I took his hands of my mouth and held onto his hands and said," He told that when he was with you he told that he was helping everyone in their deepest fears ".

After Hassan heard that he looked at George and smiled for a while and then cracked out with laughter along with everyone. George got embarrassed and said," You guys, I was just trying to keep myself calm, So, I could be confident in someone's eye ".

I knew he meant it because he didn't want to look bad for me. Then came Jean and said," You did well when we were together ", George blushed a bit which made me angry. I went to George and twisted his ears, George started to scream aloud and asked me," Why did you do that?! ".

I replied," I didn't like the way you looked at her ", George gave me the bored look.

After seeing him do that, I got pissed and then moved towards him. He knew I got pissed and then started run away till I stopped to chase him. We both started to pant and I asked George," Why did you run away from me ? ".

George replied," I saw you were angry, So I ran ".

I calmed myself down and then said," I didn't like the way she talks too you that is why I reacted, I am sorry if you felted bad ", I told it an unsettled way.

George came towards me patted on my shoulder with his right hand and then said," I know you feel so uncomfortable, So I have decided we have to break up for a while till this all gets over ".

At first I felt like it was for good to break up but then I saw him staring at Jean with a smile. I felt denied and just didn't want it to get any worse but just a bit, So, I grabbed his right hand that he put on my shoulder and did a judo slam. He looked at me in a scared way and said," What did I do this time?! ".

I didn't say anything and then raised my and hand and showed it him, He got scared because he thought I was about to punch him.

Then I said," What are you doing I just want to shake hands, So, we could be friends at least ".

George was surprised and also happy with my reaction, George said," I am happy to be your friend ".

I replied," You sound as if we haven't met before... Just... Just talk normal, you i***t ! ".

He smile awkwardly said," sorry ", and then came to a conclusion of that topic. Then we all were of into the maze with 5 entrances. At the 1st path it was Allan, John, Benjamin and Me. On the 2nd path it was George, Hassan and Jean also, that made me angry but I had to calm myself down because I can't look into 2 things at the same time. On the 3rd path it was James and Rebecca. On the 4th path it was Diana and Andrew. And on the 5th path it was Sarah and Xavier.

As we were about to go, The HGs beeped and The Overseer said," Finally, I can say about the earlier question you gave me about," Why were you all brought in ? ", Well ! The reason is simple, for me to test on live human subjects and improve you all ".

As he was about to continue James interrupted him and said," Do you not value human lives and can't you see they all are just kids!! ".

The Overseer then replied," Oh ! I like to see you all struggle even though we are the same but it is all for the good of the future of humanity, you should be thanking me in testing you ".

Rebecca wanted to say something but she didn't. James saw that Rebecca started to get frustrated and said to the Overseer," I will tell you one thing Martin when I get out of here and reach you I will kill you instantly ".

The Overseer laughed and then said," Do you really think it will be easy to get out of here. You should remember on thing I can end you here right now if I want to. And the other Creature of mine that you killed was just one of it and there are many of them that you are yet to see, I don't to keep you wait to get into the maze but I have to tell you one more important thing so that you can know why were you all brought and were you the only one's or not. The Answer is you are not alone here because there are many in here exactly like you and I choosing the fittest of the fittest and find how can an average human suffer ".

We all were shocked here that and got even more scared of if than before because now we know that the Overseer was a real psychopath and we all are in his cage.

Then the Overseer continued," Anyway I don't care whether you survive or not because you all are just my test subjects and this will be just going on and on, So, Bye ! ".

We felt more frightened than ever this time because The Overseer sounded like this floor, we would end up died. James said," Don't fall for what he said, Just stay together and determined. We can get through this easily, we have seen all of his creatures till now. So, There is nothing to worry about ! ".

And then we went ahead into the maze as we all got in, the path behind us were sealed like when we were in the 64th floor.

And then it was off to James and Rebecca. As they entered and saw the path behind them get sealed they seemed calm but were worried.

James said to Rebecca," To be honest, Over there I was just trying to encourage them there but I feel like something might go wrong this time ".

Rebecca knew that too and then replied with her head down," I also feel the same way but we have to keep up heads calm Infront of them. We might join along with the rest of them or get trapped ".

James agreed with her and said," Your right, The Overseer might wanted us probably go two or one floor below 57th floor ".

Then they went on till they saw three paths ahead of them. One in front, the other on the left and the other on the right.

Now it was off to us, Allan, Benjamin, John and Me. We were talking about how much we fought to reach here. And then felt it was just the beginning of something worse to happen we felt.

James said to Benjamin," The Overseer did mention that one of us was headed into a trap. The trap might be one or two floors below while the rest of us are here ".

Benjamin replied," You might be right, if you look into the previous traps we had got into ".

While speaking about how would the trap be set up I was thinking of what the Overseer told. The Overseer told there were others exactly like us but they all hadn't survived. I felt sorry for them and wanted to asked the Overseer about which all floors were connected like 58th floor that Jean had come from, I knew deep inside he wouldn't like to share location to us. So I then thought that we all have to go floor by floor till we find one.

Then John saw that I was in my own world then came to me and them pushed me from my back to scare me. Well I did get scared but then I yelled at him not to do that again.

But John did not take it seriously when I told it and grinned at me and said," Alexa, To be Honest, I like when your angry because it looks cute. But you don't have to get serious every time".

I blushed a bit since he told that he liked me, Benjamin looked at John in a way that he was about to crack out laughing.

Then John exhaled and told to me," I am sorry if told anything wrong ".

After that I knew that John actually loved me and wanted to keep me happy because I was lost in my world thinking about the tragedy that we are caught in. At that moment I knew I could be with someone else who really is willing to support me at all time like John did. So, I also liked him after what he had told me.

After a while, We walked on and then took a left and turn and came across three paths in which one was straight forward and others were on it's left and right.

And then it was off to Hassan, George and Jean they also got scared but George stood calm.

Hassan saw George wasn't the same as usual as he stood calm and then Hassan asked George," Are you all alright Bro ? ".

George looked at Hassan in a scary that Hassan almost freaked out and then George replied," Ya, I am alright it is just that I was thinking about which floor we are in and how many more to go... It really scares me to death ", George told it in a soft and calm way.

Jean was worried about George when she touched his shoulder he snapped out off what he was thinking about. Jean told," I understand what you mean I thought of the same thing when I was with my friends. They were even more scared than you were and now I don't even if they are alive or not. But I shouldn't be thinking about it probably will make it more worse ".

George felt embarrassed and sorry for Jean, He when close to Jean and hugged her and said," I am sorry that I trying to be such a coward, but you don't have to worry anymore I promise we both will make out of here alive ".

Jean didn't resist when George hugged but went along. On the other hand Hassan felt sad hearing that and then started to stare at a glare of darkness to hide his emotions and then asked George in a cold calm voice," What about me ".

George stopped hugging Jean and then looked Hassan and said," Oh I am sorry I forgot you was there for moment but you know we are bros we don't abandoned each other ".

Hassan did say anything but smiled and just moved on. And as they moved on came across a path on their left and on their right, as they reached the centre of the paths, they heard voices and footsteps from the left path headed their way and when they could clearly see who it was, they met up with Diana and Andrew and they all started heading to the path on the right.

After walking a bit Hassan murmured and asked Jean," Do you really believe in George because as his best friend I know him well even though he looked determined, And What are you trying to do ? ".

Jean looked at Hassan and gave him a grin, then murmured and said," Tell me a truth do you have a crush on me and I am really sorry but the truth is I just want to motivate him and make him stronger because I don't want to see anyone die here too ", Then she put her head down in despair.

Hassan murmured and said," I am sorry, I thought you just wanted to mess with George and I was just trying protect him that's all ".

Jean looked at Hassan and smiled and Hassan back at her both became friends from then on. After walking for a while they had to take a right and then they came across three path ways. One straight ahead and the others were on either sides of it. Then they saw some people coming from the path straight ahead of them. Well, It was us. As we both met at the centre of the paths we saw Rebecca and James from the path on the left that our group had come from. None of us seemed happy because it made things worse. So, we had to go towards the path on the right.

And then it was off to Sarah and Xavier. They both didn't talk to each other for a while because they felt that they would meet up with the others but then after walking for a while they came across an elevator. That was the moment they realised that there is no turning back now since the room from where they had come from was sealed and this was the only way. They took their time to realise that they were the the ones who were trapped.

Then they were forced to move on into the elevator as they got in l, the door shut and a digital image showed that they were off to the 55th floor. Sarah and Xavier got frightened because it was two floors from here it would take time for the others to reach there.

After the the elevator stopped and opened on the 55th floor, they both got out with an ease of fear. They didn't know what to do even though they knew they had to get out of hear. But then Xavier had to calm himself down and then looked at Sarah and knew that she was so frightened because she looked like this place had scared the soul out of her.

Xavier went towards her and put his right hand on her shoulder, then snapped out of what she was thinking of and Xavier said," I know it is hard but believe me. We have each others back no matter what ".

Sarah calmed herself and then smiled at Xavier and said," It is alright, I was just thinking about something ".

Xavier asked," What were you thinking about ? ".

Sarah stopped smiling and said," I know that the Overseer wants us dead here but Now I know that we are together that doesn't matter, that is all ".

Xavier was relieved but at Sarah again and asked," Wait !What did you think of ? ".

Sarah said,"Just forget it, it doesn't matter since you are here ".

Xavier didn't ask anymore, But Sarah knows something bad was about to happen and it was going to happen to them.

After walking in the maze Sarah stopped and Xavier also stopped and then Sarah started to shiver. Xavier was worried and asked," What was wrong ? ".

Sarah looked back slowly and replied shivering," I have seen this happen before ".

Xavier was confused and asked her What did she mean. Sarah said," When I wander of into my thinking I imagine the possible way that we can be kill and this was one of those ".

Xavier didn't mind it at first what she said and then Xavier said," It is just what you think, So, calm down and will be ok ".

Sarah then said," It will not be ok, because I had seen what would happen before to Benjamin and it happened. So, I can't risk losing you ".

Xavier didn't anything back at her and then cried with a smile and said," Ok I agree, It is also that I care for you that is why I acted liked that, I am sorry ".

She hugged him and said," It is Okay and it is also my fault I didn't tell it earlier ".

And after they stopped hugging Sarah asked," Promise me that you would do what I say no matter what ! ".

Xavier said," I would do anything if that's what you want me to do ".

She knew what was about to happen that is why she had asked him of that. As they went on they came across two paths. One on the right and the other on the left.

Meanwhile it was off to us, As we continued into the maze and we already reached the elevator without any trouble to face. That made us feel something worse was about to happen.

Suddenly our HGs beeped and The Overseer said," You all now know who are trapped in the maze. I will tell you where they are. They are on the 55th floor, which is two floors below from here. I know this was literally nothing, that is, the reason I named it the Detention Room. So, Good Luck on meeting one of my new pets, I have put one on the 55th floor also. They are called The Bit, those are my previous test mutated. Oh ! I will answer the question you gave me before about the maze being connected to each other. Well there is one on the 55th floor, but none of you can go except those two since, that is the way I have constructed them and it only works upon that rules I have put up  ", Then The Overseer beeped off.

After that we were off to the 56th floor...
