  Ethan's POV   She was wearing more makeup than at the inauguration.   I noticed it the moment I walked into the conference room Monday morning: the concealer around her eyes, the powder smoothing her skin, the almost-too-perfect presentation of "Mia Carter-Stonehart."A face prepared for battle.   She was hiding something.   I'd spent my entire week away researching, and the results had only deepened the mystery. Mia Carter's background checked out on paper: college records, work history, marriage license. But the photos from her college years looked slightly different. The face was similar but not quite identical, like staring at a fraternal twin. And the one photograph I'd found from her high school yearbook was so grainy it was essentially useless.   Someone had been very careful.
